Lambert House

Lambert House has been a drop-in centre for LGBTQ+ youth in Capitol Hill since 1991, providing social support, peer community, and programming for young people ages 10 to 22. The centre operates on the straightforward premise that LGBTQ+ youth need safe, explicitly welcoming spaces outside of school and home — spaces where they can socialise, find peer community, and access information and support without having to manage their identity in the way they might elsewhere. The programming includes social evenings, discussion groups, art and creative activities, and referrals to other services including mental health and housing support. Lambert House is a deeply embedded Capitol Hill institution: the 15th Avenue location puts it in the heart of the neighbourhood, and its presence since 1991 gives it the institutional memory and community trust that newer organisations cannot replicate.
