Spark by Hilton Homewood Birmingham

The hallways and elevators have a strong sewer smell as if the sewage is backed up somewhere. The breakfast is the bare minimum (cereal, yogurt, bagel) coffee was cold. Walls are thin, I was on the 3rd floor and it sounded like a stampede of horses above my room. Front desk personnel isn’t readily available. Room and bathroom was clean

Please look at your receipt. Once you have checked out. My deposit was taken due to “smoking cleaning fee” for a room I didn’t smoke in. I was scammed of my deposit which was $100. The “smoking cleaning fee” was $100. Instead of getting my deposit back they came up with a charge to keep my money. Always check your receipt after checking out from this hotel.

Clean, nice and newer! Super comfortable beds that didn’t squeak, spacious rooms and nice front office staff.

Only stayed here for 1 night. The room itself was decent, and the bed was very comfortable and spacious. The staff were very nice and accommodating as well. The only thing is that the hallways had a weird smell and the breakfast was not as great as compared to other Hilton hotel breakfasts. Mind you I stayed during the middle of the week, so I can understand if the breakfast selection is limited. Another thing was the gym was in okay condition. One of the workout benches was slightly broken. Not the best gym to work out in but the elliptical and dumbbells were great for a quick workout. Overall was a nice stay here!

I was willing to try the budget-level Hilton brand. Have been a Platinum and Gold member for many years. I will never stay at another Spark hotel again. This was clearly a refurbished older building. The hotel is so basic, there isn't a place to sit down in the room beside the bed and the office chair. We stayed in a quiet room on the 3rd floor. The bed itself was comfortable with no sunken spots on the mattress. However, the hallways smelled strange -- a mixture of stale and moldy carpet and the overpowering scent of Pine-Sol and bleach. The floors were uneven and the walls were slapped on with paint. The bathroom photos here reveal the lack of care in putting this hotel together. Breakfast room was clean and tidy, but there is no hot food provided: eggs, sausage or bacon, etc. Oatmeal is with instant packets and the hot water carafe provided. I'm certain that the hotel is managed by an outside company, but it is still labeled as a Hilton property. How disappointing.

Everything was smooth and excellent. Very clean and nice. The staff was sweet and very enthusiastic. I will definitely be booking again. Everything was perfect expect the breakfast haha. That was very underwhelming, but this location was by a million restaurants.

Basic. Too much cost cutting.

The bathroom vent did not work and the tub had dirt build up that was not cleaned properly before our arrival and staff was alerted immediately but nothing was cleaned or fixed. Also the staff will scam you by charging you a pet fee because housekeeping will claim they saw pet hair that they probably tracked in with them. We stayed 2 nights and was gone over 10 hours for a cheer competition each day , plus they have no video footage of you entering or leaving your room/property with a pet but will lie and say they do. The breakfast is horrible as they only had bagels, muffins, cereal and oatmeal you have to make, coffee is cold. Do not book here! Stay away to prevent a headache as they lack integrity!

Other than breakfast not being diabetic friendly this hotel was great. Only thing offered that my husband and I could eat was cold boiled eggs. We will probably not stay here again because of this.

SMELLS LIKE WEED!!! I almost had a stroke! The doctor told me if I have another stroke then I’ll die!! Thankfully I did not bring my grandson, cause I lost him in Seattle. If he was there, he honestly would probably get stuck in the bathroom. The hotel breakfast was scary! Back in my day when we staying at a hotel the breakfast was made and served on silver platter. I can’t wait to stay at a hotel somewhere else.

The room smelled like a skunk. the room was scary with one blue wall. Like why is there only one blue wall. At least have two. Also I could hear everything like when there was people taking showers and people running up and down the hall. Honestly -10/10 would not recommend.
