On Connecticut Avenue, this gay bar and club is a pretty reliable spot for a night out.
It’s a polished place, with contemporary design and an energetic feel. Expect upbeat music, good lighting, and the kind of modern amenities that keep the energy up all night.
Staff here are friendly and pay attention, which really helps if you’re trying to have a relaxed evening. The bottle service is a nice touch, letting you pick your own mixers and ice. That's good if you’re settling in for a while or celebrating with friends.
Washington has a lot of gay bars, each with its own vibe. This one leans more upscale, if you’re looking for something a bit slicker but still fun. It’s right on Connecticut Avenue, so it’s easy to get to from other parts of downtown DC.

First time going to this club in six years on a spontaneous night out with my fiancé and a friend. This is what came out of it. Mind you I am a 5’2 100lbs woman. I left with multiple bruises because 4-5 grown adult male security guards accused me of “bucking up to them.” First of all..it was so loud in here I had to lean up to hear what dude was saying to me. I’m short. I’m also partially deaf in my left ear. I was raised in Maryland. I talk with my hands. I don’t threaten nobody, hit nobody, nothing. I couldn’t see past this guy (he’s huge compared to me) and I was looking for my fiancé because he was blocking my ENTIRE view, respectfully. I said simply “let me get my girl and go. I do not WANT to be in here.” That is when I was physically picked up by both arms and manhandled by this weirdo two or three times, thrown into an elevator and aggressively pushed down stairs (which was very dangerous btw) when I was already trying to leave. They took my girl a different way after I was piled in an elevator with these weirdos. This dude needs to be fired along with the other weirdos who hyped him up likes he’s not a 600lbs dude manhandling a 100lbs woman who is willingly saying “let me get my girl and leave. I’m not stepping past you I just want to make sure she is with me and I’m good I’m gone. I’m not doing anything to you or threatening you in any way.” Boom. I’m being thrown into an elevator and waking up this morning with bruising and scratches on my body. In the past I’ve had decent experiences at Decades but I do remember many kids getting in with fake ID’s and adults who had valid ID’s were being denied entry. I know this because I knew people who lived in the city that had fake ID’s and they specifically told me they go to that club (gross.) I am in the music and entertainment business and have attended events at this club years ago. It was aight back then. When I stepped in last night it was dry. Bunch of drunk young kids that probably have fake ID’s, dressed super provocatively or have on those corny cheap Amazon chains. NOBODY was dancing. When we stepped in I promise to God we were the only 2 dancing because that lil put me in Chanel song came on so even though everybody else was dry we tried to make it fun for ourselves. Apparently they only have a men’s bathroom and a gender neutral bathroom. Which tells me what kind of respect they have for people. Zero. Looking through the google reviews after experiencing this…truly disgusting. Horrible business + predators who will find any reason to get aggressive. Save your sanity if you’re looking for a good night. Do NOT go to Decades.
