Last verified: October 2026. Benidorm has one of the densest gay bar scenes in Spain, but no gay hotel that we could confirm in town in 2026. Most gay visitors sleep in two old-town places. Hotel Queens is an adults-only hotel on Plaça de la Constitució, next door to Bar 69, and it has reviews from guests who stayed in 2026. Casa Don Juan is a guesthouse with a few rooms above its own bar on Calle Santa Faz. The men-only options are small and outside the old town: a gay naturist B&B with two rooms, and a "men only" resort listing on the Finestrat side that we could not confirm is still open. Hotel Castillo and the INNSiDE Costablanca, both recommended in older versions of this guide, have been taken out of our listings. Every other option is a mainstream Spanish hotel, and in Spain that is usually fine. This guide covers walking times to the bars, which streets are loud, who is actually gay-run, the ID and guest rules, and how to book for Pride.

Where to sleep, in real minutes

Benidorm's gay scene is small and on foot. The old town (Casco Antiguo) sits on the low headland between Levante beach to the east and Poniente beach to the west. The gay village is the knot of lanes between Calle Santa Faz, Carrer d'Alacant and Plaça de la Constitució. Bears Bar, R'Peet, DD's and Papagayo are on Santa Faz. Mercury, DYMK, Escape, Jimmy's, Betty Boo's and Bar Code Secret 2 are on Alacant. Bar 69 and its drag shows are on the square. Side streets add more: Poco Loco on Calle Sant Vicent, Casper's on Calle Sant Miquel, Secret Encounter on Calle Sant Roc, and Lovers on Carrer dels Quatre Cantons. Calle de la Palma, at the north-west corner of the old town, has the two men-only cruise clubs, Copper at No. 9 and Lib Club at No. 37.

The second cluster is Rincón de Loix, about 2.5 km away at the far eastern end of Levante. JJ Private Bar & Club (No. 4) and New Incognito (No. 8) are on Avenida de Uruguay there. Walking between the two clusters along the promenade takes about 30–35 minutes. Most people do it once, in daylight, and take a taxi after that.

The rule is simple: if the bars are the reason for your trip, sleep inside the old town. All 16 venues we track are within 500 m of every old-town hotel in our listings. The Levante high-rise strip and Rincón de Loix are for beach and pool holidays, and nightlife there means the British "English zone" pubs, not the gay village.

Plaça de la Constitució and Calle Santa Faz: the gay village itself

This is the place to stay if you want to roll downstairs into a drag show. Hotel Queens is at Plaça de la Constitució 5. Bar 69 is about 23 m away, which is under a minute on foot, and the centre of the bar cluster is 1–2 minutes away. Its own café-bar, the Royal Queens, has long been a gay hangout. The hotel shares its terrace frontage with the bar next door, and one reviewer complained about having to get through the tables to reach the front door. Rooms facing the square are lively until the bars close. Ask for a room at the back or high up if you want to sleep.

Casa Don Juan is at Calle Santa Faz 28, about 5 m from Bears Bar. Spirit (formerly Men's Bar) is next door on Quatre Cantons. The rooms are above the guesthouse's own bar, which is open to the public from the afternoon into the early hours. This is the most central bed in Benidorm, and also the least quiet one.

At 3 am in high season these lanes are full of people and as safe as anywhere in the resort. From November to February many bars open only at weekends or close early, and the streets empty out. That makes the old town quieter, not more dangerous.

Plaça de Sant Jaume and the tip of the old town

The church square at the seaward tip of the old town is 2–4 minutes from Santa Faz and noticeably calmer. Gastrohotel RH Canfali is at Plaça de Sant Jaume 5, with 40 rooms and a rooftop Jacuzzi that looks over both beaches. Casper's is about 1 minute away. It is a mainstream hotel, but it is the best compromise in town: you can be in the bars quickly and still sleep. Villa Venecia, the five-star boutique hotel (not in our listings), is on the same end of the headland.

Calle Sant Pere and Calle de la Palma: the Poniente side

The western edge of the old town runs down towards Poniente. Casual Pop Art is at Calle Sant Pere 14, a themed hotel from the Spanish Casual Hoteles chain. It is 5–7 minutes from Santa Faz and about 2 minutes from Copper. Refuel, the gay café-bar with a sea-view sun terrace, is a few doors away at Sant Pere 10. This is a good base if your afternoons are on the beach and your nights end at Calle de la Palma. Poniente's promenade is quieter than Levante's late at night.

Levante and Rincón de Loix: pools, not bars

Hotel Palm Beach is at Calle de Oslo 2, a large resort with gardens, indoor and outdoor pools, a buffet and nightly entertainment. It has more than 5,000 Google reviews and is gay-friendly in the everyday sense, not a gay hotel. New Incognito is 16–19 minutes away on foot. The old-town bars are about 2.6 km away, so plan on a taxi. Cala Ti Ximo, the traditional outdoor cruising spot under the Serra Gelada cliffs, is closer from here than from anywhere else in town, but the path climbs, so allow 20–25 minutes and go in daylight. Around the "English zone" pubs of Rincón de Loix, keep your phone in your pocket late at night (see the safety section).

Gay-owned, men-only and clothing-optional

There is no gay-only hotel in Benidorm town that we could verify for 2026. In practice, Benidorm runs on gay bars rather than gay hotels.

    • Hotel Queens: open, with 2026 reviews. It now trades as "Hotel Queens – Adults Only by MC". It is adults only, not men only, and as far as we can tell it is not marketed as a gay hotel. Its café-bar and its location make it the gay default. We could not confirm who owns it.
    • Casa Don Juan: open. The bar had reviews in April 2026, and gay booking sites still list it as a bar and hotel. It is mixed, and the bar welcomes women. We have not verified that it is gay-owned. Confirm room availability directly, because the bar is the bigger part of the business.
    • Benidorm Gay Guesthouse (not in our listings): a gay-only naturist B&B run by Claude and Mario, two men from northern France. It has two air-conditioned rooms for up to four guests, a pool and breakfast, in a quiet area the owners say is 10 minutes' walk from Levante and 15 from the old town. The bathroom is shared if both rooms are booked. Their listing showed prices from about €50 a night. This is the only clothing-optional, men-only stay we could find in town. Book directly.
    • Fabiola Gay Resort, Men Only (not in our listings): this appears on hotel price-comparison sites at Partida La Tapiada 70 (postcode 03509, the Finestrat side). The listings show no pool and almost no facilities, and we found no 2025–2026 reviews. Treat it as unverified, and do not prepay before speaking to the owners.
    • Private naturist rooms: gay home-share platforms list several clothing-optional private rooms in and around Benidorm. These are rooms in someone's home, not hotels, so read the reviews carefully.

No hotel in Benidorm offers gay day passes. The day-pass equivalents are the men-only clubs: Copper and Lib Club in the old town, JJ and New Incognito in Rincón de Loix. The gay beach is Racó de Conill, a clothing-optional cove about 5.6 km west towards La Vila Joiosa. You need a taxi or car to get there.

What changed: Hotel Castillo (Calle Marqués de Comillas) and the INNSiDE by Meliá Costablanca (Avinguda Alcoi) are no longer in our listings. We could not confirm their current status, so we no longer recommend them.

Booking rules that bite

Tourist tax: none. The Valencian region passed a tourist tax but repealed it before it took effect in late 2023. As of 2026, no hotel in the Comunitat Valenciana collects one, so the rate is 0% and Benidorm has no city levy either. Spanish room prices include 10% IVA (VAT), so check that a third-party site isn't adding it a second time.

ID registration is strict. Since December 2024, Spanish rules require hotels to record more details for every adult guest and pass them to the police: ID document, home address, phone number and payment method. Everyone who sleeps in the room is registered, and staff will ask for a passport or national ID card at check-in.

Visitors. Benidorm hotels rarely charge "joiner" fees, but almost none will let an unregistered person stay overnight. A guest who stays until breakfast has to show ID at reception and be added to the registration, and the hotel may charge the double-occupancy rate. Daytime visitors are up to each hotel. Adults-only places such as Queens will check that a visitor is over 18. The simple fix: if there is any chance of company, book the room for two guests from the start. It usually costs the same or a few euros more, and nobody asks questions.

Rooms above bars. Casa Don Juan's reception may be the bar. Agree your arrival time in advance and ask how you get in when the bar is shut.

Deposits and minimum stays. No hotel here charges a resort fee. Card pre-authorisations at check-in are common. Small old-town places sometimes set minimum stays or ask for prepayment over Pride week and the November fiestas. Read the cancellation terms, because the cheap non-refundable rate is the one you'll regret.

Prices. Benidorm is one of the cheapest gay resorts in Europe outside July and August. We saw Hotel Queens advertised from about £35 (about US$45) on comparison sites. Pride week, August and the fiestas cost far more. Confirm before booking.

The gay calendar and where to book for it

Benidorm Pride: 1–5 September 2027

The 2026 edition ran from 1 to 6 September, and the parade was on Saturday 5 September. The 2026 programme included a pool party, a White Party, an Ñ Divas disco night and a main stage, and the parade has run along Levante in recent years. The 2027 dates are Wednesday 1 to Sunday 5 September. The main venues are the Auditori Julio Iglesias (the "Pride Arena"), Ku Playa, and the Marina Resort, the host resort for pool parties, about a 5-minute drive from the old town. Madrid's Kluster party usually holds a Benidorm edition on the Saturday night of Pride. The 2027 date was not announced as of October 2026.

Where to book: inside the old town, because every night ends there. The gay-popular rooms at Queens and Casa Don Juan are few. Book them by early spring, or you'll end up in a mainstream hotel on Poniente, which is still walkable. If pool parties are your main reason for going, Marina Resort is worth considering, but you'll take taxis to the village. The Auditori is in the Parque de l'Aigüera, about 10–12 minutes' walk from Plaça de la Constitució.

Benidorm Fest: 26, 28 and 30 January 2027

RTVE's Eurovision selection show returns with semi-finals on Tuesday 26 and Thursday 28 January and the final on Saturday 30 January 2027. The 2026 edition was held at the Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm. Eurovision fans fill the gay bars that week, and it is the busiest winter weekend for gay visitors. Hotels are otherwise cheap in January, so a couple of months' notice is usually enough.

The rest of the year

We could not find any bear week, circuit weekend or second gay festival confirmed for the next 12 months. The town's patronal fiestas in November, including the fancy-dress day that is huge with British visitors, fill hotels across Benidorm. We did not verify the 2026 dates, so check before booking a November trip.

Getting back at 3 am

From Alicante airport. The direct ALSA bus is the standard way in. It costs about €8–12 one way (about US$9–13), takes 45–55 minutes, runs roughly hourly in the daytime, and stops at Benidorm bus station and on Avenida de Europa. From there it's a short taxi ride or a 20-minute walk downhill to the old town. Late-night services are thinner, and some late departures leave from Alicante city bus station rather than the airport, so check ALSA's timetable for your date before you book a midnight landing. Airport taxis run around the clock, and the fare is unverified, so ask at the rank before you get in.

Inside the village. You don't need transport. Every old-town hotel in this guide is within about 7 minutes' walk of Calle Santa Faz. The lanes are narrow and partly pedestrianised, so taxis usually drop you at the edge and you walk the last few minutes.

Between the two clusters. From the Avenida de Uruguay clubs back to the old town is a 30–35 minute walk along Avenida Mediterráneo and the Levante promenade. In 2026 there were violent robberies of tourists in daylight on Avenida Mediterráneo and in the English zone (see below), so take a licensed taxi late at night. We could not verify which ride-hailing apps reliably cover Benidorm in 2026. Taxi ranks and phoning a local radio-taxi are the dependable options.

Walking safety by street. The old-town lanes are fine and busy on summer nights. Poniente's promenade is quiet and generally calm. The stretches to watch are Avenida Mediterráneo and the pub streets of Rincón de Loix after closing time, where people who are obviously drunk get targeted for phones and wallets.

Health, safety and the law

The law. Spain is one of the most LGBTQ-friendly countries in the world. Same-sex marriage and joint adoption have been legal since 2005, anti-discrimination law covers services including hotels, and a 2023 law allows gender self-determination. A hotel that refuses a same-sex couple a double bed is breaking the law. That almost never happens here.

Sexual health. ALGTB Benidorm y Marina Baixa, at Calle Castellón 5 (office 8) in the new town, about 13–15 minutes' walk from Plaça de la Constitució, is the local LGBTQ association and the best first call for testing and referrals. Confirm opening hours with them. PEP has to start within 72 hours of exposure, so go to a hospital emergency department (urgencias). The area's public hospital is the Hospital Marina Baixa in La Vila Joiosa, and there are larger services in Alicante. Visitors cannot reliably get a PrEP prescription in Spain, so bring enough for your whole trip in its original packaging.

App dates. Meet in a bar first. The village is small, and someone who is genuine won't mind a drink at Papagayo before going back to your room. Register overnight guests at reception, keep valuables in the safe, and don't advertise cash or crypto. In September 2026 a man in nearby Finestrat was tied up and robbed of about €20,000 by people who had spent months gaining his trust.

Recent incidents. In May 2026 a Benidorm court sentenced a pub barman to six months in prison for a homophobic assault on two male customers. He abused them inside the pub, then punched, kicked and headbutted them outside. He was convicted of a hate-related offence against fundamental rights and ordered to pay each victim €440. Reports did not name the pub, and the case is rare enough to have made the news. The more common risk is theft. On 20 May 2026 a gang robbed a drunk British tourist in the English zone and broke his nose. On 28 June 2026 a 67-year-old British man was punched and robbed in daylight on Avenida Mediterráneo, and the same pair then snatched a woman's bag. Arrests were made in both cases.

Drugs and chemsex. Carrying or using drugs in public, including hotel common areas, is an administrative offence with fines starting at €601. Dealing is a crime. Hotels will evict guests for drug use and can bill for damage. Cannabis is tolerated only in private spaces and is fined in public. GHB and mixing with alcohol cause most emergencies in Spanish gay resorts, and paramedics are there to treat you, not to arrest you.

Smoking and public behaviour. Smoking is banned in enclosed bars, restaurants and hotel interiors. Terraces are currently allowed, but a national reform to extend the ban to them was under debate in 2025–26, so follow the signs. Nudity belongs on designated naturist beaches such as Racó de Conill. Street drinking outside licensed terraces can be fined under the town's civic rules. At Cala Ti Ximo and Cala Almadraba, people out walking and the police both pass through, so be discreet.

Three picks

Budget: Hotel Queens

No other hotel puts you this close to Bar 69 and Santa Faz this cheaply. It is adults only, its café-bar is a gay hangout, and it is about a minute from everything. Ask for a room away from the square.

Neither, officially. It is an adults-only hotel ("Hotel Queens – Adults Only by MC") that is very popular with gay guests, because it sits on Plaça de la Constitució in the middle of the gay village and has a gay-friendly café-bar. Women and straight couples stay there too.
