The local food scene is rich, with fresh seafood, mezze, falafel, and Egyptian bread being staples. Cafes and restaurants cater to both locals and tourists. Dining hours and activity levels may be affected during Ramadan; respect local customs during this period.

Mainstream nightlife includes bars and restaurants with late hours, often catering to expats and tourists. Discos may exist but are often gender-segregated or heavily male-dominated, and may not be welcoming to queer women or mixed-gender groups perceived as gay. Nightlife is generally not a primary draw for LGBTQ+ travellers due to these constraints.
