Buchan Point Beach

Buchan Point is a small beach at the northern end of Palm Cove, about 25 km north of the Cairns CBD. It's known as an unofficial clothing-optional beach. The Cairns Sunboys, a gay nudist group, have used it for more than 20 years, and gay travel sites list it. Public nudity is an offence in Queensland, and the beach has no official nude status, so going without swimwear here risks a fine. Keep it discreet, keep to yourself, and respect families and other beachgoers. From November to May, box jellyfish and irukandji are a real danger on this coast, and Buchan Point has no stinger net, so swim at Palm Cove's netted beach in that season.
