Great spot for people who are looking for a less party more community oriented hostel! Perfect location and fabulous service, every staff member happy to help :)

I stayed in a female-only dormitory room (4-person room). There was one other person already staying there, so it was effectively a 2-person room. A large suitcase won't fit in the locker. There are no locks, so a padlock is essential. There are no power outlets near the beds, and even with an extension cord, it won't reach. There are only stairs, but the staff were happy to help. There is a large shopping mall right in front, which is great. It cost about $23 by Uber taxi from the airport. By bus, it would take more than an hour, depending on the time of day. The hostel as a whole was very calm and quiet, which was great. Since I only stayed one night, I didn't use the common areas other than the shower room, but they seemed spacious and easy to use.

Nothing to say about this hostel; it perfectly matches what you'd expect from an excellent hostel. The atmosphere is friendly without being partyy, which is really nice if you're looking for a quiet place to relax or even work. The cleanliness is impeccable: clean rooms, spotless bathrooms, nothing to complain about there. Special mention also goes to the reception, which was top-notch! But please… if anyone can find the person who's been spreading toilet paper everywhere in the women's bathroom… 😅 It's not funny for your staff who spend their time cleaning, nor for the other guests in the hostel. (If the person doing this sees this comment: it's about time they learned some respect 🙂)

We had a double room with a shared bathroom. The youth hostel is beautifully laid out and equipped with a pool, washing machine, and bar. It's centrally located.

We stayed here for two nights. What we liked: the location, the small but comfortable pool, the generally comfortable atmosphere, the large and convenient kitchen, the common area, and the service. What we didn't like: ❗️ You need a key to use the bathroom, which is very inconvenient, especially at night. ❗️ The humidity in the rooms is horrendous. Even with a cyclone, it's still abnormal that water is running down the walls and the entire floor is wet from condensation. All the linens were damp, including the things in the suitcase.

Extremely disappointing. The kitchen is disgusting, the fridge is filthy and damp, food gets stolen, and the common areas and rooms (private or dormitory-style) resemble prison cells. There are no curtains, zero privacy, the beds creak—it's awful. But sorry, it's not worth 140 euros a week… everything is out of order. Just look at the color of the pool, and the staff is very unpleasant (except for Virginie).

I stayed in four hostels during my time in Cairns, and I'd say this one was a good combination of price, location, and cleanliness. However, I must mention the cockroach in my room. I asked for another room, but they said they didn't have any available. The receptionist was very kind and helped me get the cockroach out of the room.
