QT Canberra

I was excited to stay at QT Canberra, having previously stayed at other QT properties and had great experiences. Unfortunately, while this hotel has the same QT personality and aesthetic on the surface, it was difficult to ignore that the property feels quite dated. In my room, the carpet was lifting in places, which immediately gave the sense that the hotel is in need of some maintenance and updating. The main issue, however, was the bathroom. On both nights of my two-night stay, I had to call reception because there was no hot water. While staff were lovely and responsive, it took close to half an hour each night for the issue to be resolved, which was frustrating and inconvenient. Even once fixed, the shower was still only just warm with fairly low water pressure. I was staying for a work function held onsite, and the dated nature of the building was also apparent in the business facilities. Unfortunately, the catering was also below expectations. The food was less than average, one day napkins were not brought out, and the following day there were not enough plates provided for attendees. It is disappointing, as I have enjoyed other QT stays and expected a similar standard. QT Canberra has the brand personality, but the overall experience did not quite meet expectations.

WOW. I have never seen so many bad reviews for a single hotel. The hotel was built in the early 1970’s. 1974 I think. The hotel seems to have had some kind of cosmetic design revamp with an art deco / past political party theme. It’s the worst I have seen for a long time. The staff serve you breakfast like they’re doing you a favor. The king beds have two small duners/ cosys in them instead of a single king size duner. That’s about as cheap skate as you can get. The entire half of the hotel faces long term road work that start early and loud banging noise all day long. The room decoration is circa 1970’s and heavily dated not in a nice way but looks like a setting to a nightmare gone wrong. The entire hotel is geared for large functions at the expense of anyone else who has the misfortune of staying there. If you want to stay at what looks like a large building site then go for it. Avoid this hotel and try one of the hotels near the old parliament building. Oh. Nearly forgot. The bathrooms are a joke !

Room was ok. The breakfast at $36 each ! Was the worse we have had at any hotel. For such a so called "exclusive" hotel. It was so disappointing. Would never waste my money there again. Plenty of better options in Canberra

Went to Canberra for our babymoon, nice and convenient place. Shoutout to receptionist Gia for the lovely baby gift! Thank you so much for being attentive.

Unfortunately there are roadworks all around the hotel at the moment, making access very difficult if you’re driving. It really feels like a serviced apartment. There was limited welcome when I arrived. My card was given. I had to use QR codes to find out about parking, tips and things which really depersonalises the purpose of a hotel. Parking is an addition 35$ per day.

Nice hotel, good service, breakfast and coffee is good, secure underground parking, central location

We had a great stay here quick overnight on our way through. Arrive late and left early. Great value for money. Staff very friendly. Fantastic coffee over the road at Mocan and Green Grout. Great vibe in the restaurant/ bar on ground floor

This will be the last time I stay in this hotel. Came here 18May26 with shitty service at check-in, a young girl with a real attitude every time I tried to ask a question. Teach your staff to be friendlier and learn the definition of customer service. They force you to scan a QR code for the menu and if you can't do that, refuse to give you a hard copy. What a disgusting attitude where they don't give a crap about what customers need. I travel to Canberra every month for work, I will NOT be staying here again or recommending this place to any business partners. I paid money for comfort and service here and have only been pissed off at the shitty sarcastic service

I recently stayed at the QT Canberra for a few nights and overall had a perfectly average experience—nothing disastrous, but definitely not the fresh, polished stay I was hoping for from a QT property. The public areas downstairs are still lovely. The lobby, bar, and restaurant spaces feel modern, well-maintained, and have that fun, quirky QT vibe. The staff were genuinely great—friendly, helpful, and quick to sort out any little requests. That part of the hotel is holding up nicely. Unfortunately, the rooms tell a different story. It’s clear they haven’t had a proper update in nearly a decade. Everything feels worn and loose. Light fittings wobbled when you touched them, clothes hooks were hanging on for dear life, and various other fixtures just didn’t feel solid. The furniture and finishes are showing their age, with that slightly dated, “needs refreshing” look. The ironing board was probably the funniest (and most annoying) example. It was so old and completely flat with no padding left that every time I tried to iron a shirt, the metal grid pattern pressed straight through and left a perfect imprint on the fabric. There’s major roadworks right outside for the light rail extension. Construction noise started early in the morning and continued until around 7pm most nights. It wasn’t constant drilling, but the background rumble and occasional louder sounds definitely made the room feel less restful. Overall, QT Canberra is still a convenient spot in an ok location with good staff and nice common areas. But the rooms are desperately crying out for a refurbishment. Would I stay again? Probably not. QT Canberra has the bones of a great hotel—it just needs some love upstairs.

Should be a good location for the sights and a shortish walk to the centre restaurants but the ongoing roadworks are truly horrible. Rooms are showing their age a bit too - my sink didn't drain. I reported this to reception but it didn't get fixed which is why there are only 2 stars for service from me.

For the price you think they could include a microwave and some free water. Hate the fridge being overpacked with mini bar items
