About This Event
Namma Pride, "our Pride" in Kannada, is Bengaluru's Pride march. The first walk was on 29 June 2008, when about 700 people marched from National College in Basavanagudi to Town Hall; since then it has moved to a Sunday in late November or early December, at the end of a month of talks, drag nights, karaoke and a fundraiser party often called the Karnataka Queer Habba. Hijra and trans elders, sex-worker collectives, Dalit queer groups, students and office networks walk together, chanting "Namma Pride, Namma Hakku" (our Pride, our right).
The 2024 walk was on 24 November and the 2025 walk on Sunday 7 December, both from Sree Kanteerava Stadium to Samsa Bayalu Ranga Mandira near Town Hall; Deccan Herald put each crowd at about 5,000. The coalition behind the march, CSMR, split in 2024, and the breakaway CSGMR now runs a June programme, the Karnataka Swabhimana Habba. The 2026 Namma Pride date had not been announced when we last checked.
