Jerusalem Pride Parade

The Jerusalem March for Pride and Tolerance is organized by the Jerusalem Open House, and it is a political march, not a party. Jerusalem is a religious and conservative city, and Tel Aviv's pride, an hour away, is where the dancing happens. In 2015 a 16-year-old, Shira Banki, was killed when an ultra-Orthodox man stabbed six marchers, weeks after his release from prison for a similar attack a decade earlier. The march has run under heavy security ever since.

The 24th march, on Thursday 4 June 2026, took a new route for the first time in about a decade: from Sacher Park past the Knesset and the Supreme Court to the Rose Garden, under the slogan "Demanding change". More than 2,000 police and Border Police officers sealed the gathering area, and members of the far-right group Lehava protested behind a wall of buses. The Jerusalem Open House counted more than 10,000 people, with elections due by October and opposition leader Yair Lapid speaking at the rally.

Expect a weekday late afternoon in early June, security checks at the entrances, and closed streets from mid-afternoon. Same-sex marriage still can't be performed in Israel. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.
