About this place Shinjuku CaveX

Shinjuku CaveX is a 24-hour, men-only cruising space (hattenba) on the ground floor of a building in Shinjuku 5-chōme, near Shinjuku-Gyoenmae Station and a short walk from the Ni-chōme bars. It is one of several hattenba in the area and is aimed at bears and the chubby-and-chaser (GMPD) crowd. As a sex-on-premises venue, it has house rules that staff enforce. Expect an entry fee, lockers and a dress code that changes by night. Some Tokyo hattenba restrict entry for foreigners, so check first. The 2.6 Google rating from 32 reviews suggests mixed experiences. Bring your own condoms and lube.

I had a great time and made some good connections. I was surprised by how crowded it was around 7 PM, with people even waiting for showers. It must be a busy time. However, I was left feeling uneasy by the staff's attitude at the very end. When I asked for a second exchange, they placed the item on the tray at the reception desk in a rather intimidating and rough manner. The previous time, when I asked for an exchange because the item I borrowed was dirty, they exchanged it normally without any issues. I honestly felt it was a waste of their service.

Most people are just waiting to sleep...or rather, many are simply fast asleep. The space isn't very large, and it's not very clean.

This was the worst experience I've ever had in Japan. Without a doubt. I didn't bring any cash, and the receptionist impatiently told me to go get some. After I got it, they told me I needed my original passport, and since I didn't have it, they wouldn't let me in. Why didn't they just say it all at once? Is it easy to come all this way?
