About This Event

Tokyo Rainbow Pride, Japan's biggest LGBTQ+ event, happens every June. It's in the middle of the world's largest city. For years it's been growing fast. Now, over 200,000 people show up for the festival weekend. Yoyogi Park, Harajuku, and Shibuya turn into a big party, a queer celebration in one of Asia's most energetic cities.

Sunday's Pride Parade is the main event. Thousands march through Shibuya and Harajuku. They wear elaborate costumes, carry banners, and dance. The Pride Festival at Yoyogi Park runs a few days. You'll find stages, food stalls, and community groups there. Corporate money has poured in lately, which tells you something about Japan's slow but steady progress on LGBTQ+ rights.

People come from all over Asia and beyond for Tokyo Rainbow Pride. They come for Japan's safe streets, its distinct culture, and the sheer spectacle of tens of thousands of Japanese queer people out celebrating in public.
