What reviewers say

Visitors often praise the music, atmosphere, and the unique bunker setting, with many enjoying their nights out. However, there are consistent complaints about inconsistent and often rude door staff, with some visitors being denied entry without clear reasons, even when the club is not full. Some also mention the venue being very smoky.

About this place B018

B018 is one of the most architecturally and conceptually extraordinary nightclubs in the world, and a Beirut institution without parallel. Designed by Lebanese architect Bernard Khoury and opened in 1998, the club is built below ground level in the Quarantina district ? an area north of Mar Mikhael that was the site of a Palestinian refugee camp destroyed in 1976 during the Lebanese Civil War. The building's design is intentionally memorial: the retractable roof opens like a coffin lid; the seats are designed like tombstones; the whole structure is an architectural meditation on violence, memory, and the insistence of pleasure and life in the face of death. The design has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and is one of the most internationally discussed examples of contemporary Lebanese architecture. The club has operated through the entirety of Beirut's crises ? the economic collapse, the port explosion, the political upheaval ? and continues to do so. It opens Thursday through Saturday from midnight and runs until 8am. It is not exclusively a LGBTQ+-friendly venue ? B018 has always drawn a mixed crowd of Beirutis and international visitors ? but it has a significant and consistent queer presence and has long been considered one of the most queer-friendly spaces in the city. For LGBTQ+ visitors to Beirut, it is an essential experience: simultaneously a great nightclub and a piece of living architectural history. IMPORTANT: Lebanon criminalises same-sex acts under Article 534. Know the legal context before attending. Grindr is blocked on Lebanese mobile networks ? use a VPN. Keep Helem's contact accessible (helem.net).

Unfriendly staff, full of smoke could not stay there for more than fifteen minutes. Would not recommend unless you are a heavy smoker.

My friends and I went here when we arrived in Beirut - it was fabulous!! No problems getting in (2 guys and 4 girls) and we danced the night away - it was brilliant and the music was really funky by the DJ - it was 80's night on a Thursday! We stayed until close. The bunker setting is very cool.

I came to the club to meet up with my friends (all guys who entered each one on his own) and they told me to leave no ID check, no reason why.. the bouncers told me to leave. I googled the club’s number and called the person who answered barely responded and all he had to tell me was if they don’t wanna let you go in i can’t do anything for you. Going there is a gamble if you wanna visit you’re taking a huge risk by trying your luck.

I liked it a lot here! Good crowd, dope DJ, and the staff were great too! I was worried about the security at the door because of the comments, but we were treated in a friendly way and with respect. Definitly will go back!!! Entrance fee details: Free on Thursday 20$ on Fridays and Saturdays (no exception for ladies) If you look younger than 21, do bring your ID with you.

In July I had a male friend visiting and he was excited to see the place but unfortunately, they refused to let us in saying we need to have a female with us. Again their usual attitude in Feb 2019 I had to negotiate with the bouncers to let us in even though when we entered the club was almost empty. The price of a small bottle of water is 10 000 LL almost 7 $!! The Music, decor and light show is excellent as always, there are so many other good night clubs in Beirut without this attitude.

It is the beginning of the Christmas holidays. Most of my friends came back from abroad and we wanted to go have fun seeing as we didn’t see each other for months. We arrived at the door, and most of us got in except 4 of our friends. Why ? They didn’t even bother to give us an answer. They were rude and threatened us to kick us out while we were waiting to figure out if we should stay without them or go. Eventually, my friends waited 2h in the freezing air of the night, but i managed to get an answer out of the disrespectful bouncer at the door. She said that she selects a “certain crowd” for the nightclub, and that she just didnt like the way they looked. We have never been so embarrassed and humiliated in our entire life. We are all in legal age of drinking and it was our right to get in, but just because some moody bouncer didn’t like our style, she decided to let everyone in except for our friends. Very bad experience, it was very disappointing. I definitely do not recommend that place unless you want to be judged by the way you look.

Definitely experience this bar if you are going to be in Beirut. We got a table and danced the night away to 80's and 90's throwback hits. LOVE!!!!
