Urgoo Boutique Hotel

Good hotel, in a strategic place for tourism in UB.

This is the second hotel we stayed at in Ulaanbaatar and, honestly, it was the _only_ one we should have stayed at out of the two (but hey, live and learn). The lobby and elevator bay are cozy, if not a little squeezed for space, but the rooms themselves are comfortably spacious without being vistas. The front desk was extremely helpful even when we had unusual requests such as "may we have some tape to seal this envelope". While we were there the desk staff seemed limited to a middle-aged woman, who spoke English, and a young man who did not. Both were very helpful and could get the other if necessary; I wouldn't worry too much about language barriers as long as you yourself are friendly and patient.

The restaurant is not good

The best hotel in Ulaanbaatar city. Especially, the hospitality is really good.

I stayed there for several nights on several occasions, with other people taking turns. * Good points: The rooms are spacious, and there are staff who speak Japanese. The staff are friendly. Also, it's close to Ulaanbaatar city center, so you can walk to almost anywhere. There's a Yoshinoya a few doors down, so if you crave Japanese food, you can have Yoshinoya beef bowl. There's also a coffee shop a few doors down. The internet connection is normal. * Bad points: The water is initially brown (it becomes clear if you let it run). I don't really understand how to use the shower. There's no instruction manual for the TV, so I don't know how to use it either. I don't know what a 3-star hotel in Mongolia is supposed to be like, but for me, the biggest problem was that while it's warm in winter thanks to the central air conditioning, there's no air conditioning in summer, only a fan. It's not extremely hot because it's dry, but it's subtly hot. From what I've heard from acquaintances, it seems that 3-star hotels in Mongolia often don't have air conditioning, so that might be the standard for 3-star hotels in Mongolia. Next time I come, I'll choose a hotel with air conditioning. It's not bad, but I think the facilities aren't very good.

The price is not justified by the quality. The showers are yellowed and it takes at least 15 minutes for the water to get warm. There are stains everywhere on the carpets. Most of the staff don't speak English. The beds are very hard. Otherwise, the bedding is clean, the room is spacious and not noisy. The location is great.
