What reviewers say

Visitors appreciate Pink Tiffany as a safe LGBTQ+ space with friendly staff and reasonable cocktail prices. However, many report the venue feels dirty and stale, lacks atmosphere, and has a limited music selection, primarily Bollywood. Some also note it's not cheap and has declined since the owner left.

About this place Pink Tiffany

Pink Tiffany is the closest thing Kathmandu has to a dedicated gay bar, and for many travellers it is the heart of the city's small but warm queer scene. It sits on Chaksibari Marg in Thamel, a short walk from Sam's Bar and the old H2O pub, and it was opened by Meghna Lama — a well-known Nepali transgender model and activist — as a space where local queer people and visitors could simply be themselves. By day it works as a relaxed cafe and restaurant serving Nepali and international dishes; after dark it turns into a lounge and dance spot where drag, music and a mixed local-and-traveller crowd take over. The Kathmandu Post has called it the city's queer "oasis", and it remains the most reliable place to meet the community, ask for tips, or just have a drink without a second thought. Thamel's tourist buzz means the venue draws an international clientele alongside regulars, and staff are used to LGBTQ+ guests. It is typically open through the evening; going a little later in the night is when the crowd builds.

I came here early before the peak hours, so I had time to relax, eat, and enjoy a few drinks. There were only two customers at the time. I left around 10 PM and checked out another bar. I returned the next night, this time much later, but there were still no customers.

It’s good to have a safe space for LGBTQ at Kathmandu but seems the place has gone down. Lovely people and staff. Cocktails prices are reasonable. 90% of music is Bollywood.

The place feels dirty and stale. I didn’t try the food, but just looking at the menu was disappointing—it offers nothing unique compared to any small, ordinary restaurant. The staff seemed unprofessional, and the ambience lacked appeal. This is an LGBTQ-friendly space, which is commendable, but it needs an overall uplift. The restaurateurs seem to be lacking creativity and the dedication required to make the place truly stand out. My suggestion to the owner: upgrade the space, re-engineer the menu with a strong USP, bring in a passionate kitchen team, and train the service staff properly. The location and space have good potential, but the product and service need strengthening. Add some thoughtful touches to the ambience, and this place could really bloom. Wishing you the best for improvements ahead.
