About This Event
Whakatu Pride (formerly Nelson Pride) is the annual LGBTQ+ festival for the Nelson Tasman region at the top of New Zealand's South Island. Held over roughly two weeks in April, it is a grassroots, community-run celebration rather than a single large parade, with social gatherings, performances, drag and comedy nights, markets and family-friendly events staged by local volunteers and rainbow groups including Q-Youth. The 2026 festival ran from 18 April to 2 May.
