Q-Youth

Q-Youth (Q Youth Inc.) is Nelson and Tasman's by-youth, for-youth rainbow organisation, supporting queer, trans and takatapui rangatahi (young people) and their whanau. The registered charity runs weekly peer-support drop-in groups - Kea for ages 11-14 and Kakapo for ages 15-18 - plus a young-adults group, and delivers advocacy and education to local schools and workplaces. As one of the region's longest-standing rainbow groups it is a key partner in the annual Whakatu Pride festival and a central point of contact for LGBTQ+ community life in Nelson.
