About this place Lotte Hotel Seoul

Lotte Hotel Seoul is the South Korean capital's flagship luxury property — a five-star institution located in the heart of the city near Myeongdong and City Hall, operating at the intersection of Korean corporate hospitality and international luxury hotel standards for over forty years. For LGBTQ+ travelers, the Lotte Hotel represents the category of accommodation where professionalism and scale effectively resolve the question of welcome: as one of Korea's most internationally prominent hotel brands, operating at a global five-star tier, same-sex couples booking double rooms encounter the normalcy of international hotel operations rather than the variable attitudes that can be encountered at smaller, more locally oriented properties. The hotel's multiple towers contain rooms and suites at various price points within the luxury tier, and the range of in-house facilities is exceptional — multiple restaurants including some of Seoul's better hotel dining options, a comprehensive fitness and wellness center, an indoor pool, and lobby areas that function as social hubs for the Seoul business and social elite. The location near City Hall places the hotel within reasonable distance of both Itaewon (about 20 minutes by subway) and the central Jongno and Insadong neighborhoods. It is not the hippest accommodation choice in Seoul — travelers seeking boutique character will look elsewhere — but for those who prioritize the certainty of being treated well regardless of who they are traveling with, a property of this scale and international affiliation is the lowest-risk option in the Korean market.

This is the most un-hospitable hotel I’ve encountered under as a business traveller in a “partner hotel”. Service was exceptionally lacking at the front desk. We stayed for 5 nights and were allocated to the older (main) tower as we were under “corporate rate” aka cheaper partner rate. Instructions to breakfast at the newer adjacent building was not clearly communicated (it was written on a piece of paper but it was not clear to a first timer where executive tower was). Also if I may highlight it was extremely inconvenient as a business traveller having go to an adjacent building for breakfast on the 16F. Breakfast was available at the 1F of the older main tower BUT only for customers staying in the newer executive tower as it was their “signature” restaurant. Logically it made no sense to me. I’ve personally experienced breakfast at both restaurants 1F at the older main tower (by mistake as wrongly guided by a lobby staff) and 16F at the new executive tower)- honestly couldn’t tell what was so special about the 1F that they couldn’t make an exception without requiring us to pay the full rate (not even an additional top up). Despite making a kind request as we had to leave at 730am one of the days and would only be there for 20 min tops. Also when I was there, both restaurants were not full even during the peak. Some of the staff were also not particularly fluent in English so communication was quite painful and the room was dated with inadequate lighting (there was no charging point beside the bed). However, I want to add that the housekeeping service and breakfast staff at 16F were on point. Overall, still would scratch my head to stay here again especially at the main tower

I booked Lotte Hotel Seoul with very high expectations. After a 12-hour flight, I was genuinely excited to experience what is marketed as one of Seoul's premier luxury hotels. Unfortunately, the reality was very different. The welcome felt polite but impersonal. Instead of making us feel appreciated as guests, the first thing emphasized was the check-out time. When I asked whether a better room might be available, the only response was that the hotel was fully booked, without any attempt to improve the experience. One of the biggest disappointments was the room itself. We stayed in a Superior Twin Room in the Main Tower, and it looked tired and dated. Furniture showed visible signs of wear, finishes were damaged in places, and the overall impression was much closer to an average European 3-star hotel than to a luxury property charging premium rates. We paid approximately €1,700 for four nights, which sets very high expectations. For that price, I expected a room in excellent condition and attention to detail. Instead, the room felt neglected. Although there were three registered guests, only two sets of towels were prepared. Small details also left a poor impression: toothbrushes and toothpaste required an additional charge, sauna access was not included, and there was no welcome note, complimentary amenity, or any gesture acknowledging our arrival after such a long journey. None of these issues alone would have ruined the stay, but together they created the feeling that guest experience is no longer the hotel's priority. The service was professional, but lacked warmth, hospitality, and the attention to detail that defines truly exceptional luxury hotels. Lotte Hotel Seoul still has an excellent location, but based on this experience, I do not feel it offers value consistent with its reputation or its price. I left disappointed because I expected one of Seoul's finest hotels, but instead received an experience that fell well short of that standard

Everyone was really kind, the place was clean, and the food was delicious. Parking was a bit crowded since it's shared with the department store, but it is still available. It was perfect to have Las for dinner and then take a walk along Cheonggyecheon Stream. I go there at least once every summer for my vacation.

The location is good, and the breakfast is delicious. However, there are no chairs near the front desk on the first floor, so my legs hurt while waiting with my companions or checking in. This is the first time I've seen a hotel without sofas on the first floor.
