Even though it was a day of heavy rain, we were able to enjoy our drinks on the outdoor terrace without getting wet. Buy three beers and get one free. You can enjoy a pleasant time surrounded by plants reminiscent of a tropical paradise. Please note that drinks may take a little time to be served.

So I walk into this place called Dalida Three minutes. Three whole minutes. Now I know three minutes doesn’t sound like a long time — we’ve all wasted more than that looking for the TV remote — but in bar time? That’s an eternity. In bar time, three minutes is like dog years. It’s 21 minutes. I could’ve grown a beard. I could’ve written a novel. “War and No Peace and No Bartender.” I’m standing there, doing the universal human signal for “I would like alcohol now.” You know the one — eye contact, slight nod, the wallet twitch. Nothing. Not even the courtesy glare that says, “Yeah, I see you, you thirsty mammal.” It was like I’d achieved invisibility. I wasn’t a customer; I was background furniture. If I’d started dusting the shelves, they might’ve thanked me. And there’s a special kind of loneliness in a bar that ignores you. It’s one thing to drink alone. It’s another thing to be alone before you even get the drink. That’s existential. That’s French philosophy with neon lights. So I figured, hey, if I’m going to be invisible, I might as well haunt a place with better spirits. I left. Went to another bar — one of those magical establishments where the staff actually acknowledge your existence. They had this radical business model: when a human enters, they serve the human. Revolutionary stuff. Social skills. Eye contact. Words. Hospitality. Wild concepts. Dalida can keep their three-minute meditation on neglect. I found a place that understands the ancient social contract: I give you money, you give me booze, and we both pretend it’s about community.

Café Dalida is part of the queer area around the Red Building in Ximen, in the heart of Taipei City. For everyone who belongs to the queer community, Café Dalida is an absolute must-visit. The cocktails are incredibly delicious, the staff are super friendly, and it's a great place to meet up with friends and sit outside. Being there makes you feel like you're part of the community.

Dali Iced Tea is delicious! 👍🏻 Everyone at the table praised it. It's sweet and sour.

The Chorizo ​​sausage was delicious. I didn't really like the rosemary mozzarella; I'd suggest just ordering the regular one. The restaurant turns on the heating when it's cold.
