About this place Hotel Cham Cham Taipei

Hotel Cham Cham occupies a strategic location directly in the Ximending neighborhood, making it arguably the most conveniently placed accommodation option for LGBTQ+ travelers who want to be in the heart of Taipei's gay district without sacrificing comfort or design quality. The property has positioned itself as a design-forward boutique hotel with a youthful, creative identity that aligns naturally with the Ximending neighborhood's character as a youth culture and LGBTQ+ hub. Rooms are well-designed with good attention to materials and light, and the overall aesthetic throughout the public spaces — lobby, bar, dining area — reflects a sensibility that feels current and considered rather than generic. The hotel's LGBTQ+ welcome is not a policy statement but an ambient reality: the location, the aesthetic, and the staff culture all signal clearly that this is a space where LGBTQ+ guests are not an afterthought. The practical advantages of the location are significant: the Red House gay bar cluster is a short walk; Ximending's night markets and street food are immediately outside; MRT Ximen station is within easy walking distance for access to the rest of the city. For travelers whose priority is being embedded in the gay neighborhood itself, Hotel Cham Cham is one of the most obvious recommendations in the city.

This is my third time staying at this hotel, and I'll be staying for three nights this time. However, I was extremely disappointed. I checked in around 3 PM and was initially assigned room 516, which faced the exhaust vents. Since I had just seen a traditional Chinese medicine doctor in Taiwan and was experiencing some respiratory discomfort, I asked Ms. Celesee, who was wearing a black suit at the front desk, to change to the room I had previously stayed in, which faced the street. She said I should have requested this when I booked the room earlier (who would have known I'd have respiratory problems after arriving in Taiwan?). She also mentioned that many guests have the same name (meaning they don't value repeat customers and don't bother to verify if a guest has stayed before). She was very rude, and her voice grew louder and louder. I told her she was very impolite, and she retorted that I had misunderstood, without apologizing. There were several other staff members with her, and many guests were checking in at the time. She set a terrible example for everyone else. What kind of hotel service is this? She lacks even basic manners; how can she serve guests at the front desk? Eventually, she changed my room, but then said it wasn't ready. Whether she intentionally made me wait an extra ten minutes or so, I don't know. The hotel's advantage is its proximity to the MRT station, a convergence point for three train lines. The room price was reasonable, but the clothes rack in the room could be improved. I'll think twice before staying at this hotel again!

I chose the Cham Cham Hotel in Banqiao because there were reviews about bugs in the Ximeng area and the room conditions seemed poor for the price. The room was incredibly clean overall, with large windows and not a single stain on the bathroom faucet or mirror. There were absolutely no bugs, and it was great that there was a water dispenser on every floor, so I didn't need to bring a kettle. The hotel is located right in front of a bus stop, and Banqiao Station is right next door, making it convenient to get around. You can withdraw Travelogue money from the ATM next to the hotel without any fees.

On the day of check-in, I got lost and took a detour because I was going through an underpass. On the day of check-out, I followed the hotel's signs onto a surface road; the Caesar Park Hotel was behind me, and the Banqiao bus stop was opposite – the view was excellent. Regarding the room, the Banqiao train station is on the surface road; exit from the west gate and turn right. The hotel was quite nice; the bathroom and toilet were separate and had a bathtub. The rooms had one double and two single beds, and were available in four-person rooms.

The rooms and location are good, and while it might be more affordable than the nearby Caesars Hotel, it's still not cheap. The service in the lobby is poor.

The room cleaning is amazing. However, it is inconvenient because there are no other amenities.

The bathroom door malfunctioned, and a woman who couldn't handle it was called in. Then an engineer was called to fix it. I was trapped in the hot bathroom for 20 minutes before I could get out. I spent over 3,000 yuan and was very upset.
