READING WITH NORA KELLNER AND INTERGENERATIONAL DISCUSSION ON AROMANTICISM AND ASEXUALITY

Love is often glorified as the highest ideal. But what if this ideal is more of a social construct than a universal truth? In her book 'Liebesmacht' (The Power of Love), Nora Kellner deconstructs the concept of romantic love and shows how closely it is intertwined with capitalism and patriarchy. What does this mean for people who live outside these norms, for aromantic and asexual individuals? What forms of relationships are systematically devalued? And what could alternatives look like?
In the panel discussion, we also ask: Is it different to belong to the aspec community at 20, 40, or 60? What might differentiate us, but what also connects us?

Nora Kellner studied political science and sociology in Dresden and is currently a master's student in 'Gender and Queer Studies' in Cologne. She works in educational outreach on gender, sexual, and romantic diversity in schools. Her books "OpferMacht" (The Power of Victims) was published in 2023 and her book "LiebesMacht" (The Power of Love) in 2025 by Unrast Verlag.
