Hotel Cologne Rudolfplatz is a gay-friendly hotel, two minutes from the main queer nightlife in Cologne.
The Rudolfplatz subway station is right there, so you can get to other parts of the city quickly—the Cologne Cathedral is only ten minutes by train. But the real draw is that you don't have to go far for a good time. Head out the door and you're practically in the middle of Cologne's gay scene, with bars and clubs all around you.
The rooms themselves are a decent size, usually bigger than what you'd find at a lot of hotels. They've got the basics: a comfy bed, satellite TV, and a desk. Some rooms even have a city view if you care about that sort of thing.
Downstairs, there's a small spa area with a sauna, steam room, and a gym. It's nothing fancy, but it's there if you want to unwind a bit. If you're serious about a spa day, you'll want to check out the Phoenix Sauna nearby.

Perfect location, super comfortable beds and pillows, all-inclusive breakfast, expensive parking (€30/day). You can walk to the first food hotspots in 10 minutes, and on the way to Cologne Cathedral (20-25 minutes), you practically pass by everything that YouTube says you absolutely have to try. Several public transport stops are right next to the hotel. The double bed was huge (over 2 meters long), ultra-comfortable, and, something I rarely experience: comfortable pillows. You can even order different pillows if needed. At breakfast, there was nothing they didn't offer. Whether it was sparkling wine, minced pork, or a freshly prepared omelet, everything was there and always freshly replenished. If we go back to Cologne, we'll definitely stay at this hotel again.
We booked a business room for a stopover and were given one on the 10th floor with a lovely view. The room was very clean and a perfectly adequate size. The beds were also excellent! Unfortunately, that's often not a given in other hotels… The location is worth mentioning: there are plenty of options for a pleasant evening out. And the tram takes you to the city center in just over 5 minutes. The parking under the hotel – unfortunately a bit cramped and public – is a valuable asset in Cologne. Now a quick word about breakfast: a wide selection, even live cooking stations for egg dishes, juices, sparkling wine… nothing stands in the way of a good start to the day. The only criticism – if one can even call it that – is that the lobby is too cold when air-conditioned. This may be due to the international clientele and is definitely a matter of personal preference. We found it unpleasant and therefore avoided the bar after returning. Recommendation for this hotel – don't be fooled by the exterior facade!!
Once again, a perfect stay in a modern, very clean and quiet room right in the city center, a great breakfast and, above all, lovely people. Thank you, Hotel Steigenberger, and see you next time!
I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was extremely professional, friendly, and accommodating. My request for a quiet room was perfectly fulfilled, as I was given a room on one of the top floors. It was pleasantly quiet, very spacious, and comfortably furnished. The beds were incredibly comfortable. An absolute highlight was the breakfast I ordered to my room. It arrived perfectly on time, was very plentiful, and absolutely delicious. The high level of comfort and the excellent service completely won me over. I would book here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!
A lovely hotel in a great city location. The breakfast was very good and plentiful, with an egg cooker available for special requests. Unfortunately, the bar closes at midnight; after that, drinks are only available in the self-service shop. Overall, a highly recommended hotel.
