Buxbaum Restaurant

An exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The service is outstanding—every detail is seamless, every movement perfectly coordinated. It’s easy to see why this restaurant is mentioned in the Michelin Guide. The food is absolutely delicious, and each dish is presented beautifully. The atmosphere is elegant and vibrant, with guests who truly add to the experience. Women dressed beautifully, men equally stylish—it all creates a refined yet welcoming ambiance. A place I would happily return to.

I was there with my husband. The food was delicious. It's a shame they didn't warm up the bread rack; the bread would have been warm. The smoked mackerel had a wonderful tartness. My husband absolutely loved the tartare. The lamb didn't have that intense flavor; it had a rich, rich sauce, which I really enjoyed. My husband had the thinnest schnitzel; I think they sliced ​​it. The potato salad was too sugary. The chocolate tartlet is a mystery—it's easier to eat it with cutlery than with your hands. The ingredients are good. The curd knodelki were warm and mild in flavor. I was surprised that the lady is usually served first, but they always started with the husband. Perhaps it's customary for them to go from left to right, regardless of gender. We were alone inside, and like in a puppet theater, the waiters kept suddenly peering out at us, practically making "peek-a-boo" noises. It would be better if they installed glossy plexiglass or a sheet of metal, or even a garage mirror, in the luxurious entryway, so they could see the dining room from the bar. It seemed like all three waiters were here. Usually, one leads. Overall, there's nothing to complain about; they're all well-trained, well-mannered, clean, and neat young men (and a girl). Why are there mirrors in the women's restroom right across from the porcelain throne, pardon me?! Questionable experience. And something needs to be done about the floor in the women's restroom, the one at the back? I don't know what was there?! Did the Queen of Spades come out of the mirror and leave a trail?! The soap was surprising; it was just like home, no pretense, and the sink was spotless. It was really funny how the fire extinguisher pretended to be a ficus tree.

Very disappointing to have been solicited for a tip at the end of what was otherwise a good experience. When I declined to leave a tip, the server became upset and aggressive by raising his voice, making statements like "nothing for the staff?", "service is not included", and "was everything fine with our service?", and sarcastically wishing me a good night. I was shocked by such unprofessional and pathetic behaviour.

Ordered the 4 course set menu, smoked mackerel as starters was overly salty, garnishes did not balance out the salt. For the main I had chosen the fish, which i’ve never encountered a seabass overcooked apparently it is possible lol. During my dinner I also experienced an awkward encounter with one of the waiters when he checked in to see if I wanted a coffee to end the meal, I responded that I’ll need to walk off the food so might just get it elsewhere, that seemed to have offended him as he throws back a “Ok! I’m just asking” as he turns his back on me and leaves the room. Perhaps it’s a misunderstanding with language barrier but that’s not what I would expect from any restaurant, nonetheless a Michelin noted one. Besides the beautiful patio and interior decor, there was no stand out features to me, unfortunate of a meal to conclude my Vienna trip

I rated it one star so I could write this review. It's unsuitable and I don't recommend it. May God preserve His blessings.

It was our first time there, and we also had the first-course menu – we were absolutely thrilled. The seating was lovely, the service was incredibly friendly, and the food was simply wow! Truly something special. I can highly recommend it to everyone.

The restaurant is located in a historic alleyway with a beautiful courtyard that exudes a Mediterranean, almost Italian, atmosphere. We were here for an engagement party. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The staff explained the menu to us very clearly in English and were attentive and friendly throughout the evening. The special atmosphere, the excellent food, and the great service made our visit a wonderful experience.

Buxbaum really deserves to be in the Michelin Guide. Great white wine list from the local Wachau Valley. We did the three course lunch and the waiter allowed us to have two starters plus a main (no dessert). The fig salad and pea soup were great along with the tuna and venison starters. I also loved the wiener schnitzel but my wife found the pork main to be too salty. The bread is outstanding here and it is served with smoked sea salt butter. It was amazing and we went after lunch to buy the smoked salt so we can make it ourselves at home. Great foodie stop!

You should definitely avoid the Wiener Schnitzel; for €38 you get a measly wisp of nothing! ...the thinnest and worst thing we've ever eaten, what a shame...

Wonderful restaurant. Sit outside in the courtyard if the weather is good!
