About this place Room Baku

Room Baku is a design-conscious art-and-wine space with a mixed, international crowd. It appears on gay travel maps as one of the small handful of central venues where a queer crowd turns up on some nights, though nothing here is advertised or guaranteed — ask locally before assuming it is "the" spot on a given evening.

The atmosphere is relaxed and social rather than a dedicated gay night. Read our Baku safety guide, keep a low profile in public, and treat any venue listing for the city as a place that exists on some nights, not a fixed scene.

I randomly stopped at this restaurant for lunch while walking by, as I was in the mood for sushi that day. The place is not very big, and its design is basic and nothing special, but it was very clean during my visit. The restaurant was empty at that time. The service was fast, and my waiter spoke basic English, so we didn’t have any major communication issues. The restaurant’s menu is large, with many food options, especially a good selection of sushi and rolls. I ordered the Philadelphia Classic Roll and the Tuna Maki Baked Roll. My food arrived within 12 minutes, and visually the presentation was nice. Both rolls were good and fairly tasty, but not “wow” tasty. I believe the rice was a bit dry and had almost no flavor, which affected the final taste of the rolls. However, the fish was fresh and flavorful. Also, the baked “lava” topping on the Tuna Maki Roll turned out dry, even though it should be soft and melty. The portion sizes were good, and I felt full after finishing both rolls. The prices on the menu seemed reasonable. I paid 20 AZN ($12) for the Philadelphia Roll and 17 AZN ($10) for the Tuna Maki Baked Roll. Considering the portion size and overall quality, the prices were fair. The restaurant accepts all major credit cards and Apple Pay. The restaurant is located in the heart of Baku, right on the main promenade, so it’s very easy to find. To summarize my experience, I left with a neutral impression. I would call this place a “good fast-food version of sushi rolls.” If you just want something quick, simple, and not expensive, this restaurant works 100%. But if you are looking for delicious, memorable sushi to truly enjoy, then it’s better to choose another Japanese restaurant in Baku (though it will be more expensive). Personally, I don’t have a reason to specifically return here, but if I’m nearby and hungry, I wouldn’t mind stopping in again.

In my opinion, these are the best sushi in Baku! The quality of the products is at the highest level, everything is always fresh and incredibly delicious. I've eaten here many times before, and I'm sure it's perfect. Special thanks to the staff - always polite and attentive. It's nice to be greeted with a smile. This is exactly the place I want to go back to over and over again.😊

Today I came to sushi room to order California hot roll and Khokkaido roll. The moment I came, the 2waiters greeted me. They don't speak English but they tried their best to make sure I knew what I wanted and ready to order. I opened my Google translate and the guy named Khasan didn't give up on trying to give detail information so I knew what's inside my order as I had problem to access English menu. With their limited English, they still could make me laugh. The first time I came here and I got so impressed by the service they gave me. When my food came, I love California hot roll so much as it's crispy. The ambiance is quiet as well, and I plan to come back. Thank you.

This is more of an eatery than a restaurant. Tables, chairs, napkins - everything is cheap. Rolls, salad - everything is tasteless and ugly. I don’t understand how this establishment has 5 stars, but I wouldn’t give this establishment even 1.
