Alma Grand Place Hotel

Problem with check in, receptionist drew my card at least 3 times saying it did not work. Two days later I see double transactions confirmed. They say they will fix this. 3 weeks later still no refund. After several emails back and forth finally got my refund.

The room was very large clean and comfortable. I recommend ear plugs or white noise because the partying outside goes all night long. But this is a good trade off because the location is so central you will appreciate it being just steps from everything you will want to do. The staff was fantastic! They mailed some postcards for me so I didn’t have to figure out how to buy stamps and where to mail. However, I kinda wish their WiFi network was secure, and not wide open, and I wish the TV had YouTube. But now I’m nitpicking…

We (from Australia) were looking forward to staying with Hotel Alma Grand Place. However, with the war in Iran, we were unable to have our holiday at all. We cancelled with three weeks' notice. All of our other accommodation (also non-refundable by policy) was happy to refund due to the circumstances. Hotel Alma Grand Place not only refused to consider a refund at all, they cancelled the booking after the first night, getting their room back AND our money.

3.5 stars. A great price and an excellent location, right in the heart of downtown. Didn't hear any noise from the streets from the room. The included breakfast was a nice touch! The rooms themselves get the job done, nothing of note. The bathrooms and especially shower left a lot to be desired. Our room was not in the cleanest shape. But for the price and the location this hotel did what it needed to!

Attentive and friendly staff, excellent cleaning service, perfect location

I got the top floor room with a staircase to the huge bathroom (room has two floors!). 15 minutes away from train and all the main sights. I was going to go to thar huge zoo west of the city but the front desk lady suggested i explore Brussels so I did and loved it. Luggage storage was a big plus as I flew to Heathrow at 9 pm. They allowed me to come back at 1 pm to use the breakfast area to eat lunch and charge my cell.

The room was fine. We had duplex type of room, with our bed upstairs and a big window for fresh air. Amenities were good. We were only very disappointed by the staff at the front desk. 2 of the 3 people we talked to only spoke French, not even English. When I called in advance, the staff member didn't speak a word of English, and I had to hang up. One of them also barely spoke French, mixed with Spanish. I don't get how this could work for the many tourists in Brussels who don't speak French.

A small and warm hotel, centrally located and with a very attentive staff, especially Virginia at reception, a great professional.
