About this place Hotel Bentley

Hotel Bentley is a budget hotel at 51 Avenue Rogier in Schaerbeek, a residential district just north of central Brussels. It's a mainstream hotel listed as gay-friendly, not a gay venue. Reviews are poor, averaging 2.6 on Google from nearly 500 ratings, with complaints that mostly concern room condition and cleanliness. Brussels' gay bars are concentrated around Rue du Marché au Charbon near the Grand-Place. From here that's a tram or metro ride of about 20 minutes, or a taxi late at night. Book only if price is the main factor, and read recent reviews first.

Honestly, I'm still wondering if this is really a hotel, a two-star one at that... I don't get it... sure, it's much cheaper than other hotels in Brussels, but good grief, the value for money is just not there. Stained paint, no finishing touches, no toilet paper, no TV, a window that doesn't close, an unsafe front door with a 2cm gap underneath, curtains with holes (moths?), and to top it all off, from 5 am onwards, guys were chiseling away at the tiles, construction work in the hotel right in front of me. Needless to say, I didn't sleep a wink... frankly, it's strange, only book it if you have no other choice... the reception staff were smiling, that's the only positive point...

The hotel did not meet my expectations or justify the price. The door doesn’t lock from the inside, its smells of cigarrettes or something old; you can hear noise from the neightboring rooms, and it’s located in an unsafe area. I went in and left the room immediately, and they still didn't refund my money. This is the worst place I've ever booked; I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Significant investments have been made in new, spacious, and comfortable rooms. Excellent value for money. Close to everything (European Quarter, NATO, city center, etc.).
