About this place Monasterium PoortAckere

Monasterium PoortAckere is a mainstream gay-friendly hotel set in a former convent complex at Oude Houtlei 56, on the western edge of Ghent's old centre. Rooms are split between the old monastery buildings and a more standard hotel wing, and the cloister garden and chapel give the place its character. It is not a gay hotel. The Graslei, Korenmarkt and the medieval core are about 10 minutes away on foot. Ghent's small gay bar scene is also within walking or short tram distance. With over a thousand Google reviews averaging 4.1, it is a well-known option. Book through monasterium.be.

Good hotel, with lovely location and with more charming in the storytelling than in reallity. Perfect for a 2-3day stay to discover the city, with correct rooms and bathroom. Service is not so welcoming, they did not let us finish the breakfast (send us to the garden) but they did not clean the table…nonsense. Also the cool place to eat (refractory) is not available.
