Eklo Hotels Bordeaux Centre Bastide

Our experience was extremely disappointing. The room was much smaller than expected and had very limited space to move around. Basic amenities were missing, including no soap in the room (can you imagine) Overall, I would never recommend this hotel.

Our expectations were very low but even for the low expectations, we weren't ready for the surly and uninterested staff. Their attitute about the check out timing was unexpectedly unease.

The rooms are extremely small and unbearably hot. The temperature inside felt like at least 30°C, and the fans were completely ineffective. During the night, we asked to be moved to another room and were told that no rooms were available. We then asked whether we could cancel the remaining nights, and we were assured that this would be possible through Agoda since the booking and payment had been made there. Based on this information, we immediately contacted Agoda and booked and paid for another hotel through Booking.com. The next morning, we checked out. However, Agoda later informed us that a refund was impossible because the hotel claimed that they had offered us another room and that we had refused it. This is misleading. We were indeed offered another room the following day at the time of our departure, but during the night, when we first reported the problem, we were told that no rooms were available. That refusal is exactly why we booked and paid for alternative accommodation. The hotel is terrible, the rooms are terrible, and staying there during the summer is simply impossible. The listing stated that air conditioning was available, but in reality there was none. We were told everything was fine and that we would receive a refund, but instead we were misled first by the hotel and then by Agoda. I do not recommend either this hotel or Agoda.

New-age hotel close to the city center. Pros: - Location near TBM, close to Darwin Park, and Carefour. - On-site café and restaurant. - You can enter the hotel bypassing the reception (ground floor). - Quiet. - Anti-theft blinds in the room. - Staff speak English. - It's quiet on cold days. Cons: - Some maneuvering, they charge a refundable security deposit, I don't know why, because... - Rooms are rather cramped, about 8m² + bathroom about 2m². - No air conditioning, instead a very noisy fan (you either sleep at +28°C (stuffy), or the fan is noisy).

Do not stay at this hotel, especially during hot weather. We booked a room through Agoda, and the listing stated that the room had air conditioning. In reality, there was no air conditioning. There was also no ventilation and no possibility of opening the window because it faced a common corridor where people constantly walk by. Bordeaux was experiencing temperatures of +35°C during our stay. We literally suffered through the entire night. My husband went to the reception during the night, but they told him there was nothing they could do to help us. Later they offered us a different room, but by that time we had already booked and paid for another hotel. In summer, these rooms without air conditioning are simply uninhabitable. But that was not the only thing that surprised us. There was no hand soap in the room, no hairdryer, and only one power outlet by the bed for two people. To borrow a hairdryer or an iron from reception, you must leave your passport as a deposit. At check-in, they also take a €64 security deposit, apparently to make sure guests do not damage this stuffy 10 m² room. I strongly recommend considering one of the nearby chain hotels instead. For the same price, you will get accommodation that is far better. At this hotel, you will only get humiliation for your own money.

I appreciate the atmosphere at Eklo Bordeaux Bastide, always relaxed and friendly, with a very good barista to welcome us.
