via Stay22About this place FLAX
FLAX, on Chodowieckistraße, is a gay bar and café in Berlin that pulls in a younger crowd looking for a low-key but still energetic time.
It’s really two places in one: a café by day, a cocktail bar by night. So you can grab a coffee or stay until late for drinks and dancing.
They play house music, and theme nights are a regular thing — karaoke, happy hours. A good way to meet people or just have a more interactive night out. Berlin’s gay scene can feel pretty unpretentious and inclusive, and FLAX fits right in. Sundays, they do a brunch buffet from 10am to 5pm. A solid option for easing into the day or catching up with friends over food and a mimosa.
Just know it's closed on Mondays.

great for partying
I've known this place for almost 20 years and have always been satisfied. I recently held two large parties there, and everything was absolutely top-notch, from the service to the cleanliness and the atmosphere. The owner was polite and incredibly helpful, even pitching in with the setup. We were able to borrow equipment, and they also provided us with kitchen utensils. I'd gladly come back anytime.
I celebrated my 30th birthday at FLAX yesterday and it was AMAZING! We were a group of about 40 people from all over the world. My playlist consisted of 80s music, German hits, and lots of Latin music! I could choose the music however I wanted, and it wasn't a problem at all. Communication with the owner, Steffen, was always easy, and he even helped with the preparations! My guests also gave only positive feedback about him and the venue! Therefore, I definitely CANNOT agree with some of the previous comments. EVERYTHING was GREAT! I was allowed to bring my own snacks, use the refrigerator, and the party lights (and fog machine) plus colorful decorations made FLAX the perfect birthday location! Thank you so much for everything!
We celebrated a birthday there. Despite the place being nicely decorated the owner's attitude was a deal breaker. We paid to play our own music and to have the room yet the owner was very controlling in what we should be playing. He made a very racist comment about a song we played and asked us to change. He also started his own music over someone else's music. He mistakenly made someone paid twice and afterwards asked to keep the money because we had apparently not tipped enough. I would not recommend.
