About this place Hamy Cafe-Foodstore

Hamy Cafe-Foodstore, on Hasenheide at the Kreuzberg/Neukölln line, is a Vietnamese spot that’s LGBTQ+-friendly and known for good, cheap food. It’s got a fast-food label, but the kitchen does more than just quick-service; you’ll find soups, curries, and daily specials with some Thai touches.

The cooking’s better than you’d expect for the price, making it a solid choice for Southeast Asian flavors without paying Berlin’s usual premium. Vegetarians have plenty to pick from here, too.

Service is fast, like a proper fast-food place, but the atmosphere’s relaxed, not rushed. Grab a seat outside on the pavement to watch the street scene unfold while you eat.

If you’re LGBTQ+ and in Berlin, Hamy’s an easy, unpretentious dinner in a busy part of town. It’s the kind of place where you can get a decent meal that won’t empty your wallet, then go check out the rest of Kreuzberg and Neukölln. Find out more at hamycafe.com.

Excellent place. The food is top-notch, the portions are generous, and the price is unbeatable. Both the hot dishes and the freshly squeezed drinks and juices were surprisingly good. It's usually busy, but the tables are shared, so the wait isn't usually long on weekdays. The only thing that left something to be desired was the service from one waitress who wasn't very helpful; the rest of the staff were incredibly friendly.

We always ordered the 'vegan' curry and went there regularly, even though the service wasn't very friendly; we often felt like we were just being processed, but it was close and cheap. Last time, we asked if the noodle salad was also vegan. Another waitress took our order, and he bluntly told us, 'NOTHING IS VEGAN!' They put cow's milk in the curry and use fish sauce, so it's NOT EVEN VEGETARIAN. I find it unbelievable that all the other waitresses took our orders for 'vegan' curry without ever mentioning this. Now, I will go to the Vietnamese place next door instead.

The vegetarian soup contains fish sauce... There is no vegetarian or vegan dish.
