Düssel-Cup
About This Event
The Düssel-Cup, Düsseldorf's queer multisport tournament, takes over a spring weekend in March or April. It's been going since 2007, when about 400 participants showed up - by 2012, that number had more than doubled to over 900. After a Covid-induced pause from 2020 to 2022, which also saw the cancellation of the city's EuroGames 2020, it's back on track. The Düsseldorf Dolphins, VC Phönix, and Weiberkram are the three local clubs behind it.
The 2026 edition, the 17th, ran from 27 to 29 March, with around 700 athletes from about 20 countries expected to participate. Sports on offer included badminton, basketball, minigolf, running, squash, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, and a FLINTA-only football tournament. You could also sign up for workshops in party dance, square dance, and FLINTA-only Thai boxing.
The weekend kicked off with a reception at Bar Konvex, followed by a party at the zakk on Saturday night, and wrapped up with a Sunday brunch.
It's open to queer people and their allies who want to play in this setting - you can register through the Düssel-Cup website.
The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
