Rosa Wiesn — Gay Oktoberfest Munich 2026

Rosa Wiesn is the gay side of Munich's Oktoberfest — not a Pride and not a parade, but a set of long-running gay days woven into the world's biggest beer festival. Oktoberfest 2026 runs 19 September to 4 October, and the queer calendar within it is well established.

The big one is Gay Sunday (Schwuler Sonntag) on the first Sunday, 20 September, from 9am in the Bräurosl tent — one of the most famous gay days in Europe, thousands of men in Lederhosen packing the tent from morning on. Run by the Münchner Löwen Club, it has been a fixture for decades. The other institution is the Prosecco-Wiesn on Monday 28 September from 1pm in the Fischer-Vroni tent. Around them sits a growing roster of queer events: the Rosa Wiesn tapping at the Käfer garden on opening Saturday, RoslMontag, Proud Wiesn, Subavaria and a Gay Finale in the Schottenhamel tent on the closing Sunday, 4 October.

Entry to the tents is free, but tables need reserving well ahead and the gay days fill fastest of all — sort a reservation early or come in the morning.

Practical notes: the Theresienwiese is a short U-Bahn ride from the centre. Wear Tracht (Lederhosen or Dirndl) if you want to fit in — most do. Pace the Maß; they are strong and a litre each. Munich hotels are eye-wateringly priced and booked out during Wiesn, so plan far ahead.
