Rosa Wiesn (Pink Oktoberfest) is one of the world's most unique LGBTQ+ events: a gay takeover of the world's most famous beer festival. Each October, tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ people from across Europe join Munich's Oktoberfest at the Theresienwiese fairgrounds for a designated "gay day" at the Bräurosl tent — the largest beer tent at Oktoberfest.
The contrast is part of the joy: lederhosen and dirndls worn unironically by thousands of gay men and lesbians, giant steins of Bavarian beer, oompah bands, and the general madness of Oktoberfest filtered through a queer lens. Rosa Wiesn has been running since the early 2000s and draws 15,000+ LGBTQ+ visitors specifically for the event, making it one of Germany's most distinctive gay calendar moments.
Official pre-Oktoberfest LGBTQ+ party at NY Club — the biggest queer club night of the year in Munich. Lederhosen welcome, lederhosen optional.
