Zappeion / National Garden

The National Garden and the adjoining Zappeion Gardens, right behind the Greek Parliament at Syntagma, are central Athens' best-known outdoor gay cruising area. Activity happens only late at night, once families and tourists have left, in the wooded paths around the central fountain and the Zappeion side. It is a long-standing, tolerated spot rather than an official one. Discretion is essential: come after midnight, keep valuables to a minimum and stay aware of your surroundings, as the park's edges attract non-cruising activity too. Same-sex activity is fully legal in Greece, but public decency laws still apply.
