Le Café Mystery is Budapest’s oldest gay bar, a true landmark for anyone looking to tap into the city’s LGBTQ+ scene.
You’ll find it on Nagysándor József utca, right in the thick of things. People always mention how friendly it is, from the staff to the regulars, which is probably why it’s stuck around so long.
It’s one of the city’s few gay bars, and it feels like a classic Central European spot: easygoing, no fuss, just a good place to hang out. They’ve even got a terrace, which is nice for a drink and a chat, with a bit of a view over the neighborhood.
If you're in Budapest and want to connect with the local LGBTQ+ community, Le Café Mystery is a solid bet. It’s been here forever, and that welcoming vibe isn’t going anywhere.

The hotel was good overall. However, the restaurant prices are completely out of line with Hungarian standards—the same prices as in Paris or London. The indoor restaurant was closed even though it was 35°C outside. The rooftop spa was also closed, and this wasn't mentioned when we booked. Otherwise, it's a quiet hotel with a good sauna and hammam.
I was here just to take some photos of what I knew was an important Hungarian Masonic temple. The staff were very friendly.
The staff was amazing, really polite and helpful. Everything here is grand in style and the spa topped the experience.
Excellent hotel for good price. Historic building nicely decorated with all the modern amenities, very clean, comfortable beds, excellent noise isolation. Service is friendly and accommodating. Location is also good - walking distance to train station and near trolleybus stops to get straight to the center. Absolutely would stay next time in Budapest.
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at your hotel. The atmosphere was beautifully unique, everything was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and all of your employees were very kind and welcoming. If I had to mention one small negative point, it would probably be the breakfasts. Personally, I missed more vegetables, a bit more variety, and a wider selection of eggs, yogurts, homemade, and local food. Overall, we had a great experience and we really liked the hotel.
Probably one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. First off we arrived a day before our reservation, but they were quick to accommodate us and it’s such a beautiful hotel! The spa was amazing, they delivered chocolates at night to the room and everyone there was so gracious! Highly recommend! One thing to note the location is a bit far from the Danube.
