The Yard Hostel Catania

The rooms are comfortable and okay, although there's no shelf or safety locker upstairs, so I was woken several times during the night by the sound of a bottle or phone falling. There was no soap in the bathroom, although I didn't ask for it because I forgot, so I don't know if that was due to negligence or standard maintenance. The location is okay.

[ENP] Of all the hostels I stayed in on my trip, this one is the best prepared to receive guests. It has almost 24-hour service and several separate common areas, far enough apart that you can do whatever you want in one without disturbing anyone. The staff, super friendly, allowed me to store my luggage before check-in and after check-out (and even let me shower after check-out). They have a laundry service for only €5. The rooms are spacious, with enough distance between beds and curtains for privacy. I went in April, so I didn't have any problems with being too hot or too cold. The bathrooms, located outside the rooms and separated by gender, have three fantastic showers, three stalls, and three sinks. They are also very spacious. The cleanliness was excellent, and I saw firsthand the cleaning lady arrive on time and clean thoroughly. The kitchen is also very well-equipped. I had read in the reviews that the bar was a problem because of the noise and crowds, but during my stay there was hardly any activity, so it wasn't an issue for me. As for the location, it's past the end of Catania's main street and far from the train and bus stations, but it wasn't a big problem. It was more of a problem that I found it difficult to walk around the city than a problem with the hostel itself. Highly recommended. Really very comfortable and interesting hostel. Lots of space, there is an opportunity to spend time with friends in the lounge area. Large kitchen with all kinds of utensils. There is an opportunity to rent a private room with a bathroom. There are some interesting rules, but I respect them and they have a place to be. But it is not very pleasant when they try to take away a bottle of collector's wine from you, because they do not trust you (although you can safely carry it in your bag and no one will know)... An interesting rule regarding the opening hours of the kitchen. For example, I was not able to have breakfast before the flight at 6:30, having prepared breakfast in advance in the evening and prudently put it in the refrigerator)... But this is my fault ). Pay attention to this! The only negative thing I can attribute to the technical condition of the bathroom (after you take a shower, be careful, because the shower is not airtight and some of the water will be on the bathroom floor).
