About This Event
MiX Festival is Milan's international queer film and culture festival, and one of the oldest in Italy — it has run since the mid-1980s, and 2026 marks its 40th edition, from 17 to 20 September under the theme "WHAT'S NEXT?" It is a compact, four-day festival of screenings, music, masterclasses and events, staged at the Piccolo Teatro Strehler and the Casa di Quartiere Garibaldi.
Across the long weekend it runs features, shorts and documentaries from around the world alongside cultural and club events — a mix of cinema and queer nightlife that has made it a fixture of Milan's autumn. The 40th edition opens with a preview tied to a Cannes standout, "Lo Sguardo Misterioso del Fenicottero."
Practical notes: the Piccolo Teatro Strehler is central, near Brera and the Garibaldi district and easy on the metro. Milan in mid-September is mild. Tickets and the full line-up appear on mixfestival.eu closer to the dates; screenings are ticketed per session.
