1926 Le Soleil Hotel & Spa, Sliema Malta

This hotel was one of the most disappointing travel experiences I have had in years. The online presentation is extremely misleading. The photos on Booking do not reflect reality. The rooms are small, outdated, and nowhere near the standard suggested by the hotel’s marketing materials. Even the towels had a rancid smell, which immediately raised concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. One of the biggest disappointments was discovering that many of the advertised facilities are not actually part of the hotel building. The swimming pool is located two streets away, the gym is across the road, and the spa is also in a separate building, on what feels more like a residential floor than a proper wellness facility. The restaurant was another major letdown. The food quality was mediocre at best, and unfortunately I suffered food poisoning after dining there. Breakfast was equally disappointing. The omelette I was served was probably the strangest I have ever eaten: bitter, seemingly cooked with old rancid oil, visually unappealing, and with an awful texture. Another uncomfortable aspect of our stay was the behavior of one of the pool-restaurant servers. He repeatedly pressured us to leave a review mentioning him by name and became increasingly persistent when we did not do so immediately. Rather than feeling appreciated as guests, we felt harassed and uncomfortable. Requesting feedback is perfectly reasonable, but repeatedly pushing guests for personal reviews crosses a line and detracts from the overall hospitality experience. The only positive aspect of this hotel is the staff. The reception team genuinely tries to help, and the lady assisting with taxis was particularly kind and professional. What frustrates me most is that this short trip cost around €700 for just three days. For that amount of money, there are countless hotels that are far more honest about what they offer and provide a much better guest experience. Sadly, what should have been a relaxing short vacation was completely ruined by this experience. I would not return, nor would I recommend this hotel to others.

Very spacious room with a fantastic hammam and a small balcony, it's a shame it overlooks the rooms opposite. The staff were attentive and responsive. The best part for me was the Margot restaurant – excellent cuisine and great value for money.

Hello, We booked 4 nights at this hotel. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Alex, who was incredibly kind to us 😍 Our room wasn't ready yet, so he offered us a drink at the bar while we waited, and we ended up with a nicer room than expected 🙏 I'm particularly grateful to him because thanks to him, we had an excellent stay 👌 He explained everything clearly and thoroughly, including the hotel's free beach club, just a 2-minute walk away… the gym, the spa, and the rooftop pool. Really great, thank you Alex! 😉 As for breakfast, it was also very good, with a wide selection of everything to eat, and the head waiter regularly replenished everything, even at 10:20 am, knowing that they close at 10:30 am. Here, the customer is treated properly, and that's a real pleasure ☺️ Thank you to the whole team Lucas and Laurence

Excellent hotel in the heart of Sliema. Very friendly staff, very spacious quadruple room with two very comfortable king-size beds and a convenient balcony. Full of amenities, including a rooftop pool, indoor spa, and a beach club with a pool, restaurant, and direct access to the sea included in the price. Highly recommended.

We had a pleasant stay at 1926 Le Soleil. The main let down of this hotel was the room. A lot of reviews have mentioned rooms being on the small size, which is true. There was also a distinct lack of storage space. But even small rooms can be nice if well maintained, but unfortunately our room was quite run down, as a few of the photos below demonstrate. The bathroom really wasn't fit for purpose as the shower door didn't work properly and water leaked all over the floor. Housekeeping was generally good and we really appreciated the turndown service. But there were occasions when we had to ask for extra things. Both the rooftop pool and beach club were enjoyable and attractive. The rooftop area is small and there was a reservation system for the loungers. This was fairly easy to use via the hotel app. In the end, we never struggled to get loungers, but I could imagine this being more problematic later in the season/if you had more people in your group. The beach club seemed like less of a club and more like a second hotel pool. Certainly not for anyone looking to party. Although this suited us well. On the other hand, the service was excellent overall. Everyone was very helpful and welcoming. Particular shout out to the staff at the breakfast, who made every morning very special.

Located in a quiet neighborhood, with easy ferry connections to Valletta, I managed to park on the street, but I had to search (there are large paid parking lots nearby). The rooms are of a good standard. The breakfast is good. The beach club is great.
