This place is different from what you might expect but it's also what makes it unique. You skip the awkward part at the bar where most people pretend coming from something else, because there is no bar as such, you end up directly in the cruising area where I guess you could be whatever and do whatever. The guy at the desk is very kind and makes you feel comfortable, no prejudice. You basically pay 13 eur at the desk and go upstairs to the cruising area. The area itself is maybe a bit brighter than in other cruising spaces, but it also looks and designed differently. Some might like, some not much, but it's quite fun and I liked it overal! Lots of UV light, mirrors everywhere so be careful, some dynamic light. I'd call the design "American bubble-gum 90-s club something", so it's not a dark basement like most of the European cruising areas look like. There is a vending machine with refreshing drinks and a free locker, though setting a pin can be a bit tricky, I guess a more detailed instruction is needed. The cabins can only fit one person unfortunately, all have glory holes and TVs, so I suppose this is what they are designed for. There are no cabins for two as in saunas and bars, unfortunately. There is a small dark room (not very dark by the way) where, I guess, you can have more fun, but there is nothing to lean on, it's an empty room. There absolutely must be a sling in this room imho haha. There is no other place to fit two or more people, maybe you can try the hallways, but I wasn't lucky. Will definitely try once again because this place, with all pros and cons, is quite outstanding and leaves pleasant vibes!
It’s bad. On the website it says “between 18 and 26 free”. My bf is 26, and got told that its until 26, not including. Also the cruising area is terrible in general. Its just single person booths. No room for groups. Just a tourist trap. Not worth the money. edit: to the owner's response - check the screenshot of your website that i've added. https://www.drakescruising.com/en_gb/ It doesn't say under 26. Thanks for offering an arrangement, but that's a bit late. At first when the salesperson said we misunderstood we just accepted it and paid. Then later we checked the website again and showed it to the salesperson, and they shrugged and said "ah too bad, we'll change the text". No intention of coulance or anything. So it feels a bit disingenuous to discuss an arrangement now, only after i left a bad review. Also the text on the website has not been changed.
The best crusing place during the day time in the center of Amsterdam, Jethro (the guy who works there) is an Angel in eart
The entrance is in the shop on the ground floor, where you also have to pay the entrance fee at the counter. Upstairs on the first floor, there are only a few video booths. If that's your thing, you'll be happy. Otherwise, everything is quite small and cramped.
I'm interested in a scale model Riva boat, and this shop sells them. The person who helped me was friendly and didn't seem pushy. I'm still considering buying one, but if I do, I'll buy it from this shop.
