What reviewers say

Some visitors found the service great and had a thrilling time, with one bartender being particularly friendly. However, multiple reviews mention issues with inclusivity, specifically regarding trans men and a hostile attitude from staff at the reception desk, contradicting claims of welcome for all.

About this place Dirty Dick's

Dirty Dicks is one of the anchor venues of the Warmoesstraat leather scene — a dark bar with a direct attitude, a darkroom, and no interest in softening its identity for mainstream visitors. The name is not subtle, and neither is the bar: this is an adult cruise bar for gay men who know what they are looking for. The Warmoesstraat location places it in the heart of Amsterdam's leather quarter, alongside Argos and a cluster of leather shops that make this stretch one of the most concentrated fetish areas in Europe. Dirty Dicks is at its busiest on weekend nights and during Leather Pride week in October, when the entire Warmoesstraat becomes the centre of the Amsterdam fetish scene. For visitors who find the Reguliersdwarsstraat mainstream scene too polished, the Warmoesstraat bars represent the older, harder-edged Amsterdam gay tradition — the city's historical tolerance for all forms of sexual expression operating without apology.

Not inclusive of trans men. Behind the times. The bar tender was very rude telling me that the bar is only for men, not trans men. Reply to DD's reply: Let’s be clear about what you just wrote: Your bartender explicitly told me the bar is 'only for men, not trans men.' That is direct discrimination. You claim trans men are welcome, but then state that access is based on being 'recognized as male by staff.' This means a trans man is only allowed in if he passes a subjective visual test. You stated that it is 'entirely up to me' if I want to face being 'described and judged by others.' Blaming the patron for the dehumanizing scrutiny your establishment enforces is textbook gaslighting. Finally, the irony of a gay men's bar gatekeeping trans men is staggering. The modern Pride movement exists because trans and gender-nonconforming people fought back at Stonewall. When the AIDS epidemic devastated gay men, it was lesbians and trans men who stepped up to care for them when the medical establishment and the world turned their backs. For a queer venue to reduce trans men to whether or not they satisfy a cis-centric gaze at the door is a massive betrayal of our history. Thank you for confirming that your bar is actively unsafe and unwelcoming.

I went to a special themed day of the month night and nothing was set up for it par to what the website advertised. Good if you like the pure dark cruising style.

Trans/tv women are welcome? I’m a man that like to dress like a girl.
