I have been looking forward to visiting Thea for a long time, so I was very excited. The premises are a bit dark and in my opinion a bit gloomy with all the grey. The name made me expect wallpaper and old decor, but everything was grey and a bit sad. The place has a high style with white tablecloths and very nice and observant waiters. They gave good wine recommendations and ensured a complete and good experience. One detail is that you get new cutlery for each small dish and more bread without asking. (It sounds completely basic, but unfortunately you experience more and more places where you are asked to save on cutlery for the next dish.) The menu gives you the opportunity to choose single dishes or go for a 6-course menu. We did the latter. Good food, mostly very good flavor combinations. So all in all a very good experience. To pick a bit, there is sometimes a bit of a lack of combination of taste and consistency between the menu and what you are served. When the menu says forest berries and you get five American blueberries and a garden raspberry, it has nothing to do with forests. And honestly, a spoonful of blueberry jam would have probably gone better with the deer than the berries on the plate. And gnocchi and duck don't go together. Sorry. It's a nitpick, but it matters. That being said - We had a good time and enjoyed the food and will be back to try the next menu as well.

One of the best meals I’ve had in 8 years in Norway. The venison was the highlight but the beef was also amazing. The cheese was also fantastic. The setting is very chilled almost like being at home, veldig koselige. The servers are lovely and very attentive. My only regret is not trying the seafood as both menu options were difficult to choose from, next time though. The chef and owner came for a chat also which was really nice. I Can’t wait to come back and try more food in winter as the menu looks very seasonal. The price for the quality of food is really very good in Oslo, there’s a lot more expensive places around that are nowhere near as good quality of food as Hos Thea. This place is a gem and a must for anyone serious about their food.

A lovely, small, and elegant restaurant. There are two set menus to choose from, or you can create your own combination of starter, main course, and dessert. Very attentive service. Easily accessible by tram.
