About this place Búteo

Búteo is a budget-priced mainstream eatery on Travessa dos Tanoeiros in the old centre of Lagos, in the Algarve. It has a 4.9 Google rating from about 780 reviews. It is listed as gay-friendly, but it is an ordinary local place, not a gay venue, and we have no confirmed details on its menu or opening hours. The street is in the walkable old-town grid near the main square, so it's easy to fit in between the beach and an evening out. Small places in central Lagos fill up in summer and may close on some days in winter, so check before you go.

We loved this place so much that we came back twice during our holiday – and both visits were fantastic! The first time, we had the Piri Piri prawns as a starter, followed by octopus and slow-cooked Iberian Black Pork. On our second visit, we tried the prawns and stir-fried rump bites as starters, and tuna and Piri Piri chicken for the main course. Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and gave us excellent recommendations. It was the perfect way to finish our holiday. Thank you for two wonderful evenings – we’ll definitely remember this place! ❤️

The food and service were both really good. Great price for the quality of the food. Definitely recommend the chicken piri piri and the pork cheeks!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Buteo We had a delicious meal at Buteo tonight. We started with Pica Pau de Atum and Pica Pau – delicious pieces of tuna and beef, perfectly seasoned. For the main course, we enjoyed Frango Piri Piri, with caramelized shallots, fries, and homemade aioli, and the Atum Braseado, with sweet potato puree, caramelized onion and tomato, vilão sauce, and fennel salad. Both were incredibly flavorful. To finish, we shared the Burnt Basque Cheesecake – wonderfully creamy and truly a perfect ending. The service was also super friendly and welcoming. In short: a wonderful evening at Buteo, highly recommended, and we would love to be back!!!

Very good, service OK, the best restaurant we ate at in Portugal during our holiday. Note: there was a price error for the dessert (€7 instead of €5.50; we only noticed it afterwards).
