About this place Casa Independente

Casa Independente on Largo do Intendente is not a gay bar in the conventional sense — it is a queer-friendly alternative culture venue that occupies a large, atmospheric multi-room space in the Intendente neighbourhood, programming live music, art exhibitions, film screenings, and community events alongside its bar function. The venue's politics are explicitly progressive and its atmosphere is welcoming of the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities, particularly the younger queer community that is less interested in the circuit bar scene of Príncipe Real. Intendente is one of Lisbon's most interesting up-and-coming neighbourhoods — historically working-class and now the site of significant cultural activity — and Casa Independente is its cultural anchor. For visitors wanting a Lisbon experience beyond the Príncipe Real gay scene, Casa Independente is the best alternative.

If you are alone you pay 7 euros, if you are in a group you pay 15 euros (each), does it make sense?

Terrible service. We arrived, sat down at a table, and were completely ignored. We went to the bar to say hello and ask if they had food or tapas, but they didn't even acknowledge us. They simply responded with a firm "NO," in a dismissive and unenthusiastic manner. I absolutely do not recommend this place.

One of the best spots in Lisbon to go out! Amazing vibe, very nice people. Music is great, the vibe of the place is amazing. The prices are super fair, and the staff is cool. It's an iconic place with a lot of identity! A very important place for Lisbon night life. I hope it doesn't close, it's so important for the city to maintain this kind of spots alive, it's what gives and develops identity to a city, makes it alive. It's a place of happiness and love, good music and good conversations and awesome memories.

A hidden gem in Lisbon! The ambiance is absolutely beautiful, the bartenders are wonderful, and the drinks are delicious and well priced! Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a great drink away from the tourist hub in Lisbon.

Nice hidden garden terrace, a little shabby. Bad cheap drinks
