FIRE!! Barcelona LGTBIQ+ Film Festival
About This Event
FIRE!! is Barcelona's LGBTIQ+ film festival, run by the city's Casal Lambda association. It started in 1995 as the Mostra Lambda and took the name FIRE!! in 2008, and it says it was Spain's first international LGBTIQ+ film festival. More than 1,300 LGBTI films have been shown there since 1995.
The Barcelona edition runs for about ten days in early June. It shows features, documentaries and shorts, with talks and director Q&As. In 2026 a new Ventura Pons award for best feature, worth €2,000, was added, and director Antoine Leonetti said the prize money turns the event from a showcase into a festival. After June, part of the programme tours to Begur, Manresa, Tàrrega and Sitges.
The main venue in 2026 was the Institut français de Barcelona. Check mostrafire.com for tickets and session languages before you go.
The 2026 edition ran from 4 to 14 June. It showed 56 films around the theme of Arab and Persian queer cinema, under the slogan "A Thousand and One Queer Stories". It opened with the Moroccan animated film Bouchra and had a 13-film trans section. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
