Pride Barcelona
About This Event
Pride Barcelona is the city's big summer Pride, run since 2008 or 2009 (sources differ) by a nonprofit association with business partners. It is separate from the activist march that local groups hold around 28 June; in 2026 that one went out on 27 June. Barcelona also claims Spain's first large LGBTQ+ demonstration, on 26 June 1977, and Mayor Jaume Collboni has backed a bid for WorldPride 2030.
The format is several days of free concerts on two stages, at Passeig de Lluís Companys by the Arc de Triomf and at Plaça Universitat, ending in a Saturday evening march. In 2026 about 50 floats and 20 groups left Plaça Universitat, ran along the Gran Via to Plaça de Tetuan, then down Passeig de Lluís Companys to the Arc de Triomf, where a manifesto was read. The march is free and you can join it from the pavement.
The early-evening start (18h in 2026) takes the edge off the summer heat, but the stages are still exposed, so bring water. The Gaixample, the gay bar district in the Eixample between Universitat and the Gran Via, is a few minutes from the start and stays packed late. Hotels across the centre fill up, so book early. Safety came up in 2026: the organizing committee condemned an attack on a couple at Plaça Universitat during Pride week, and a local report counted 170 incidents against LGBTIQ+ people in Catalonia since January.
The 2026 festival ran from 15 to 19 July, later than many travellers expect, with the march on 18 July under the motto 'Totes les realitats, un sol orgull' ('All realities, one pride'). The Guàrdia Urbana counted more than 140,000 people, and the organizers claimed 275,000. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked, so don't assume late June.
