Like some others here, I don't understand some of the negative reviews. I have been in McKiernan's many times and everything was pretty much as expected. It is a PUB and not a Michelin-star restaurant. They focus on beer, pub-grub, and sports. The owner is a very friendly Irish woman, Linda, and the staff are a big mix of Catalan, Spaniard, and South American. Most of the staff, not all, speak Catalan (to address that particular negative review) but if they don't they certainly speak Castilian and most speak some English. The primary beer is, very rightly, Guinness, and they know how to pull it. It is "pub-grub" not high cuisine! The burgers are large by Spain standards and the Buffalo Wings were quite good even by American standards. Don't be put off by these few negative reviews. Sure, on crazily busy nights there will be some mistakes by staff but just talk to Linda, Micky, or Jordi and they WILL make things right for you. If you want to watch a match or simply sit on the Rambla and watch the world go by with a pint.... you could do a lot worse than McKiernan's!

Saturday, January 24th, we go to have a beer at this pub, we sit down and a girl comes up to us and addresses us in English, I tell her that I don't understand what she's saying to me, but that we've already ordered at the bar. The girl leaves with a face that doesn't know anything about what I've told her. Another waiter brings us our drink and I ask him in Catalan if only English is spoken in this place. The guy answers me: "I'm sorry, I don't understand Catalan", and he makes a mocking face at me as if we were from the planet of the apes. Yes, we're not in Dublin, we're in the middle of Girona. I don't know if the owners of the place have heard of our country's consumption laws, apparently not. Let's see if someone from Plataforma per la Llengua goes there to have a few beers.....

Perfect for having a few beers....attentive waiters, good and varied beers.....

You call and they tell you there are no reservations. Now just enter the reserved table signs at the bar. They say it all.
