About this place Avenida Sofia Hotel Boutique & Spa

On Avinguda Sofia, this boutique hotel and spa aims at LGBTQ+ travelers who want a quiet escape on the Catalan coast.

Sitges has long been a favorite for gay travelers, thanks to its accepting atmosphere, beach scene, and quick trip to Barcelona. This hotel slides right into that, giving you a comfortable spot to hit the town's beaches, bars, and social events. Plus, there's a spa, so you can expect some wellness stuff alongside your room.

The hotel talks up its service and food, with a restaurant right there. If you're looking for a romantic weekend or a longer stay, a boutique place like this usually means more personal attention than a big chain.

When you book, ask the hotel directly about what's included, what kind of rooms they have, and anything else you need to know for your Sitges trip.

We made a reservation for lunch, according to the menu that is posted at the entrance. Menu from Monday to Friday from 1 to 4 pm. We arrived at 1:05 pm. When we are at the table, the waitress tells us that today, Wednesday, the chef says that there is no menu and that if we want to eat, it is à la carte. In addition, the waitress does not speak Catalan. They have left. It is a shame because we are hotel guests.

My partner and I stayed at Hotel MiM Sitges for a week and overall had an enjoyable stay. The location is excellent: just moments from the beach and within easy walking distance of Sitges’ LGBT quarter, with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops nearby. Check-in was quick and friendly, and staff took the time to explain the hotel’s facilities. Our room was spacious and well-equipped, with a large bed, Nespresso machine, minibar, bath and effective air conditioning. However, the hotel is beginning to show signs of wear. Wallpaper was peeling in several places, furniture was scuffed, one bathroom sink was cracked and a damaged tap leaked throughout our stay. The shower design also meant the bathroom floor became very wet after use. The rooftop bar is a real highlight, with good food, attentive service and a great atmosphere in the evenings. The pool is small but clean, although some of the decking has warped and could do with attention to prevent it from remaining a genuine hazard. The spa is a valuable addition, featuring a jacuzzi, plunge pool, steam room and sauna. Again, maintenance lets it down slightly, with exposed nails visible in parts of the sauna and a steam room that never quite reached the temperatures I’d expect. Breakfast was the standout experience. Laura deserves special recognition for her warmth, professionalism and genuine care. When my partner mentioned his gluten intolerance and lack of appetite one morning, she went out of her way to select suitable food for him to enjoy later. It’s staff like her who make guests want to return. Housekeeping was excellent throughout, and checkout was simple and efficient. Overall, this is a good-value hotel in a good location with excellent staff and facilities. What holds it back from a five-star review is the lack of maintenance. A little investment and attention to detail would make a significant difference.

We are a group of 5 people. We came just for lunch, without accommodation. Considering the name of this hotel and the prices... the quality was quite good. The paellas didn't seem like paellas to me; they're made with a weak tomato sofrito and boiled rice. The prawns were very flavorful, and the Iberian pork was spectacular, but the rice needs improvement. The octopus leg wasn't a leg at all, but a base of potato parmentier with five measly pieces of the supposed octopus leg. It's not worth it for the price. The sourdough bread was spectacular, no complaints there. The service was very, very good. The staff isn't to blame for what the hotel/restaurant offers. I should add that when we asked for the bill, they added items we hadn't ordered, so we had to complain. But it was resolved without any problem. In fact, they removed two items from the bill. This is not meant as a negative critique, but rather to help improve what is offered on the menu.

Tired. It’s a nice hotel that is in need of some investment. Beds are way past it, shower is a rollercoaster of temperatures, and the fittings are on the verge of falling apart. Same in the spare, which has a full thermal water circuit - it’s lovely, but hasn’t seen a deep clean and repairs in what looks like years. The staff are absolutely lovely, breakfast is great and the location is mega. It’s just needs some tlc.
