Clarion Hotel Stockholm

Good location, okay rooms and good staff.

We stayed in the Compact Double Room. Overall, the stay was okay, but there were a few disappointing aspects. Unfortunately, the pictures on Booking.com don't accurately reflect the room you actually receive. As a result, our expectations were higher than what we experienced. The Compact Double Room felt significantly smaller than anticipated and resembled a storage closet more than a hotel room for two people. The room contained a bed that was only 1.40 meters wide, which is very cramped for two people. There was also no wardrobe and far too little storage and shelving space overall. The bathroom also lacked storage. Instead of the large mirror, the available space could have been used more effectively to create additional storage. Therefore, the room is only suitable for a limited time. While there is a well-stocked minibar in the room, it's not free and offers no real added value when there's no storage space for personal food items that need refrigeration. The beds were very soft, which can be uncomfortable for people with back problems and resulted in back pain for us. ... Furthermore, the window (even on the lower floors) could not be opened. Additionally, the bed, with its very large headboard, was positioned directly in front of the window. This made the room very dark overall, and the view from the window was poor. As a result, the lights had to be left on constantly, even during the day. Unfortunately, it must be mentioned that during room cleaning, partially consumed bottles left on the table were simply taken away. Other deposit bottles that we intended to return to the supermarket were also removed. This is quite annoying and unacceptable. On the positive side, the hotel was clean, and the breakfast was good and varied. Those who read the room description carefully before booking will have a better idea of ​​what to expect. The Wi-Fi worked reliably and was free of charge. Also convenient: the television offers Netflix. The hotel's location is very central, so you can quickly reach the city center with just a few subway stops. The subway station is right in front of the hotel, a one-minute walk away.

Our stay at the hotel was from August 31 to September 14, 2023. Rooms 4035 and 4037. We had a standard room. It was nice—the size was just right for us. However, our friends had booked an identical room—but they actually got a room without a wardrobe, and naturally, it was 0.5 meters smaller in width. They also didn't have a ceiling lamp that hung from a hook (though there was one). But overall, we found these minor issues. The breakfasts at the hotel are good, quite adequate. And the girl at the entrance to the restaurant was especially wonderful, really brightening our day. A little more variety in the TV channels (sports, music, and geolocation) would be helpful. Excellent work by the reception team. But... The housekeeping staff is absolutely killing the hotel's rating. They often didn't change towels or provide the required number. Something was really weird about the tea and coffee set: there were days when they didn't provide anything at all, sometimes they only gave us one tea bag, sometimes two tea bags and two coffee bags, etc. Our friends mentioned this several times both at reception and with the housekeeping staff, but everything continued as before. Honestly, this is the first time I've encountered such a misunderstanding—a minor detail, but it was unpleasant. It was more of a nuisance than the evening and morning noise from the subway passing below. But overall, I would probably stay at this hotel again. A great area of ​​Stockholm and the metro—just great 👉👍.
