Basel Pride
About This Event
Basel has had its own Pride since 2023, run by the association Basel tickt bunt! on a Saturday in late June. It is a walking demonstration rather than a float parade: motorised vehicles and commercial advertising are banned, and only queer groups may bring music.
People gather from 2 pm outside the Kunstmuseum Basel for a bar, music and speeches, and the walk sets off from St. Alban-Vorstadt. The roughly 3.3 km route crosses the Rhine on the Wettstein Bridge, runs along the Kleinbasel riverbank and ends at Holzpark Klybeck, with food stands, bars and a party at GANNET. Speeches are interpreted into Swiss German Sign Language.
The 2024 walk, the second, drew more than 2,000 people; organizers counted about 3,000 at the third, on 28 June 2025. The 2026 walk took place on 27 June under the motto "Diversity unites – together, not against one another", on the same day as a separate CSD in Liestal for Basel-Landschaft. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.
