About this place Schützenmattpark

Schützenmattpark is a public park at the edge of Basel's St. Johann quarter, and it has been a gay cruising area for a long time. Activity is reported around the toilets by the kiosk and along the quieter paths and benches in the evening, more in the warmer months. Safety: Basel media have reported robberies and homophobic assaults on men in the park after dark. Avoid isolated corners late at night, carry little cash, and don't go alone if you can help it. During the day it is a busy neighbourhood park, so be discreet.

Very well located, this is my favorite park in Basel. Best on the summertime where children can enjoy all activities and adults can enjoy a good cappuccino outside.

Nice city park with playgrounds, a large grassy knoll, and a cafe. It's well connected by public transport and only a few minutes away from the main Swiss train station. It's nice, however, not the best Basel city park. Picnicking: yes. tough, be careful about making fires.

Perfect place with kids for nearly every age. Lot of entertainments. Even a restaurant where you can get a coffee/food.You just need to sit down and watch the kids :)

The Schütenmatt Park is a great place to go and enjoy your time in Sunny Basel. Great during summer and spring time!

I live not too far away and I really enjoy this place especially in Summer. Theres always people around and its a nice place to make a bbq (bring your own!) or to just make a picnic or play some ball or frisbee. There is also a restaurant/cafe and a really nice playground for kids. You can easily go there by public transports.

Great meet up place for people coming from different locations. Plenty of green space. A nice paved loop. Lots of different play areas for kids. Even small kids. And an onsite cafe right in the middle.

When I passed through the park, there were flowers blooming and there were a few people enjoying the park and others enjoying their lunch break. There is a cafe in the middle of the park, free restrooms, a childrens play area, lots of benches, table tennis and birds in the park all of this is located next to the tram and bus line.
